Jrt90 24
Out for a mooch and came across these holes about 3 meters up the river bank and wondering what would’ve dug them. Wouldn’t have thought badger as thought it would be too close to the water. Maybe otter? For context the entrance is massive collie could fit half way down the first tube. Quote Link to post
Daniel cain 45,814
otters will have little visible mud slides from the holes to the waters edge normally 2 Quote Link to post

dillydog 8,463
Without physically being there to take in all the available signs like prints, fur on the roof of the tube, scat and so on you'd only be guessing.........these days you'd want move than a guess to risk your liberty 3 Quote Link to post
Rickshaw swami 4,137
Could there be beaver on this river? Beaver here in America will build these type sets with an exit below the river. Quote Link to post
harryshounds 1,167
My guess is badger, you can get badger setts on river banks. Give it a wide berth. 1 Quote Link to post

sionnach99 1,264
Well it’s definitely not a fox . And both the animals you mentioned are protected by law. So I reckon leave it as you found it undisturbed and keep walking. Edited January 4, 2023 by sionnach99 3 Quote Link to post
Jrt90 24
Appreciate the replies lads. Had a feeling it was one of the two which I wouldn’t go near anyway for obvious reasons. Don’t have any terriers these days anyway. It’s nice to get out and see that they’re around especially if it’s otters. 1 Quote Link to post
