Keepdiggin, imo, these street/prison legends are only fit to hold the coats of pro boxers or MMA fighters. A few have appeared in the pro ring, Sykes and Bronson for example, but were soundly beaten. Let's face it those two had/ have big mental health problems.

McLean and Shaw could never have cut it if they fought genuine boxers of equal weight. From what I've seen on YouTube, they were very poor in the ring. The same is true of gypsy gobshites on YouTube. I genuinely think a lot of those guys must be retarded.

I don't buy " the cobbles" is different to the ring. Boxers can fight as well as box, and MMA fighters would be very at home on "the cobbles."

So for me, these guys are frauds. They are only mimicking the real warriors. They talk the talk but are not capable of walking the walk.

I think it's like most other things ,you can't generalise mate ,I have known so so boxers who were fearsome on the cobbles and I have know decent quality boxers who just couldn't hack the cobbles ,no hard and fast rules .

The way we've treated Moyse is f****n disgusting....im not against a new manager it probably is the right time but theres ways of doing things and the man deserves respect and a good send off yet we'v

West Ham fans in town all day and not a murmur until wives/families get attacked by " ultras " at the game itself.....embarrassing !! There was a handful of chaps on each stairwell stopping them

My Hammers will struggle this year ,some fans want Moyse gone but personally i cant see the point we have a manager thats proved he can improve the club, owners willing to throw money at it.....at what

I don’t know how you make a comparison between pro fighters and bare knuckle ones.

Regarding bare knuckle fighters, most of them couldn’t get a licence so we’re forced down this route to earn a pound note

Lenny McLean just struck me as a proper fearsome and explosive man.

MMA  isn't bare knuckle is it?  I didn't mention bare knuckle.

I didn't mean to upset you Greb/Dutch. I know a lot of young men are fascinated by Lennie M .

Back to football. I don't doubt Hackney Marshes has bred many, many brilliant players. But, genuine question. Has a boys club ever produced more pro players than Wallsend Boys Club in the North East?

They have a prolific prodution line. I bet every club in the country send scouts there. Off the top of my head.... Shearer, Waddle, Bruce, Beardsley Supermac( Newcastles number 9 for many years). The list goes on.

Scotland used to produce top players, but they dried up for some reason. The North East continues to a be a hotbed of talent.

Bloody hell all I said was I don’t know how you can make a comparison as you’re not comparing apples for apples - rules, training, discipline, one man’s strengths etc. The logic seems flawed in my simple mind.

It’s ok to disagree and have a difference in opinion mate x

Its just different times.....in his day very few people could cope with Lennie in a stand up but in todays times against a fit and dedicated mma fighter of equal size no of course not......back then nobody even thought about the possibility of getting someone in an arm bar or a choke a guy like Lennie wouldnt even of seen that as real fighting......times change and today fit capable young lads having one on ones are looking to technical proficiency to end a fight rather than strength and aggression.....to me theres something far more satisfying about ending a fight by punching somebody in the face than there is by wrapping them up in a choke and have them go to sleep in your arms.....but then im of that same old school as well so its just different times.

Malcolm Macdonald is very much an adopted Geordie, but he never attended Wallsend boys club. He's a cockney, born in Fulham.

Cheers.
