Had a mooch through a few keepered woods now the shooting season has ended and had ten minutes looking over this field a field i remember as an 11 year old with my older cousin and a few other young lads and our pack of mongrels and a greyhound lab that belonged to some one on his street that we used to take and it was lifting with hare's that looked massive to young eyes. On our way home the keeper got us and took our names and addresses. I admit I was shitting myself being first time caught and the keeper was a big bloke dressed in a tweed suit and deerstalker hat. Years later found out they called him Trevor Jones who Barrie Hines baised his book on the Gamekeeper that then was made into a television play. Enlarge the pic to spot an hare in it.

As teens we used to buzz getting chased by the keepers & farmers. Lol

On our Sunday walk, one of the lads in our gang was a bit of a wrong un and was forever trying to get us in as much bother as possible. We all wanted to run things with the dogs, but he'd always talk us in to getting closer to the pheasant pens and before you know it we'd jumped over the fence, in to the pheasant pens. Lol

I can remember the keeper coming and we all legged it, if you were the back marker the best tactic to use was to trip your mate up in front. Hahahaha

Luckily we never got any dogs shot, I have no doubt they would if given the chance.

The keeper who took over from Trevor Jones when he packed the keeping job in was well known for shooting dogs and threatening people with guns and a big bully of a man that used to poach himself when he was a miner with the infamous Bush Mangam
