tatsblisters 9,404 Posted August 25 Report Share Posted August 25 Nice walk through Wentworth park this morning and past the big house I didn't see one rabbit. In the 80s rabbits were plentiful and the park land was always a good drop with the long netts. Don't know wether it's an age thing but seeing different fauna and wildlife seems to bring some past memories back. Like seeing these reeds that reminded me of a time wile coursing on Crowland and we got bogged down in a dyke as we were surrounded by the police and bullrushes how we collected them as kids and sold them door to door for folks to put in vases as a decoration it's how as 12 year olds we got enough money to buy our first ferrets and then spotting roe deer that always got the heart beating when in pursuit of them with the lurchers. 7 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

That's true mate and underestimated the amount of wild life and fauna that's on them it was a refreshing change to see a few rabbits bobbing about and a covey of wild grey partridge as well as kestrels hovering above swaves of long grass a lot different to the mooch around the outskirts of the Wentworth estate this morning and surrounding farm land that's pretty sterile at the side of the pit top. 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

As always I spotted them way before they spotted me and before they got too close shouted out do you mind putting your dogs on a lead, mine in is a cantankerous old swine? They put the big dog on the lead. Thank you for that. As we passed their little dog, only about 11" TTS but a nice type and at least 18lb, maybe more, quickly got aggressive and made a move on my 14 year old terrier, who was a lead. No harm done, I saw it coming and flicked it off with the side of my boot. It got back to its feet and tried again, I then used my boot/leg to block him. There was no real intent, just dogs being dogs, and he trotted off. Then I got so much abuse. Not from the dogs, but from their owners. What gives me the right to kick their dog? It is against the law to kick a dog! And so on and so on. FFS. I had something similar from dog walkers last week who are the new proud owners of a very nice looking fully grown male EBT from a rescue shelter.
