Spent to many years fannying about with birds of prey, Always found i either had the money and not the time or the time and not the money, Flown accipiter's, Long wings,  Buteo`s and parabuteo`s.  To get a bird truly fit requires a level of commitment most are not capable of giving, consequently there birds never reach their true potential, Some people do achieve it and a bird in prime condition is a sight to behold. Chucking something over a hedge on a Saturday morning to catch an unsuspecting pheasant or rabbit just does not do it for me,

I’ve had a Harris hawk male that did what you describe mate .Down to myself not devoting the time to get it proper fit .Lamped rabbits and bits ,ferreted a few rabbits for it but wasn’t my main hobby therefore it just grew fat and lazy .Sold it to lad that promptly got it killed by another Harris female trying to fly as a coilition.

Ill get another when I’m fully retired I’m sure of it ,probably a red tail or gos  .

It’s always been an ongoing joke about pulling a walrus on New Year’s Eve but tonight it might just happen! seen seals/ porous and whales on the beach here over the years but this is a first.

It’s just been on our local news, it’s got it’s own bouncer’s for this evening, because you can bet your arse some tw*t will be trying to feed it chips or trying give it a line of sniff before midnigh

Lamaguire vulture near the Severn bridge, 9ft wingspan, one of my best non native species spotted, I was watching it for a couple of days before the twitchers got on it, last seen on Dartmoor with 100

Red tails are Grumpy fuckers by nature, but i once new a lad who put the time in with one and it was a pleasure to watch. Gos`s were known as the chefs bird in olden times, Great birds who have no half measures unlike say harris hawks. My favourite was always the sparrow hawk, Had hours of fun flying them, Everything from starlings on the school field to moorhen and even the odd magpie.

What i meant mate is where is the nearest place to our shores walruses are living. If it had been washed up dead it might have been easier to explain

I know mate - I honestly have no idea.

....... it's a cool thing to see here though - that's some set of tusks

I know years ago a large dead sea fish a ling if memory serves me right was dumped in the river Dearne nr Mexborough and a few believed it had managed to get up from the sea. lol . It makes me wonder if this walrus was caught in a net then released when the boat was in our waters.
