Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Was a rabbit night with the chance of a fox on neighbouring ground to the chicken sheds .First rabbit shot was off a log with a bank behind it that found its way under the stump . Mate shot another from this point but arriving at the body he realised the ward add on had fallen off the scope as we searched for the rabbit .We scoured the field up and down for that thing .How hard could it be to find a black 6x6 square box with two torches .Took us 45 minutes to find it in the grass .Hadn’t been tightened up right so in field pit stop on onward .Left the two rabbits at the road side and a fair walk to the rabbiting ground passing 30 odd hares on the way .Got in amongst them and mate shot 12 from the one stand . They are dog food so no need to slaughter many .I’d forgotten what 12 rabbits felt like on a hazel stick but suffered in silence left them by a gateway and made our way to the chicken farm to see if any more foxes had wandered in after the pasting we gave them few nights back .Sure enough I could see a fox from the entrance gate and taking a punt that it was a new arrival i squeaked after mate had set up .It came steaming in to the point I had to shout at it to stop it at around 130 m .Mate head shot him ,just the one shot as it was stone dead before it hit the ground . I paced it at 146 .Round the sheds further down the track there were a few rats kicking about so we stayed back at a reasonable 70 -80 m and mate asked if I wanted a shot .Well ,no need to ask twice and 3 rats later we were headed back to the truck .The temp was nearer freezing now at 0135 hrs .Been a long time since we shot any rabbits but defo not the last .Both enjoyed it . 8 Quote Link to post
