That spray scent gland stuff horrific, my mate got some to try ( god only knows why ) the tw*t spilt it in my car, we had to drive 45 miles home at -3 with the windows open, could still smell it weeks

I just use the boiled fermented horse hoof , but again dont spill it , but good for stopping them , I also use as a cover scent when wind is wrong

Wolfdog, for the most part, there is no money in it here, so collecting glands/urine is literally not worth the effort.

Is there a market for fox furs there mate .Look same species we have here .I called  one when on holiday  in Canada that was huge .As big as a yote I’d say .I wanted to call the lion people said was about but a no show .We we’re in a motor just to add .

Not much for fur in my part of the country. We have nice color phases but lack the fullness to really compete with fur from other parts of the country. Live market is where the money is when it comes to K9's down here. $30 for Grey fox $50 for reds and $75-$120 for coyotes. All have to be alive , healthy and with good feet though .

Glands and urine is another decent thing too. Control work is...eh.... Give or take if youll get paid because everyone and their cousins is getting thermal now days and wanting to kill something lol

That's a shame, what about skulls at least ? See a lot of people paying a lot for cleaned skulls. I mean I've been a inf them going for anywhere from $60 - $800 depending on what it's from.

So hound hunting in the south is a BIG tradition right. The tradition of fox hunts actually came over and is pretty deep in a lot of people's families and even communities. Well deer ,rabbit, coon and bird dogs basically can be ran pretty easy without too many problems on public land like nation forest or hunting leases.

Fox and coyote dogs however .Well not 100% on why but not the easiest thing. So what people stared doing was build "pens"  basically imagine you take a big clump of private land and fence it in so your dogs basically have a safe are to run . Now chance of running into a highway getting hit or shit ect.  And alot of these are Massive pens. I mean 500-2000aceres I think isnt uncommon.  Usually pine plantations with ponds ,and thickets and all that goodness. And they have lanes and raids cut all though the property.

So what happens is the pen owners pay trappers for "game" ie fox and coyotes ( in states where it's legal like mine). Trappers like me catch them  and sell them to pen owners who then let these animals loose in these pens. And they HAVE to be healthy. No mange ,broken bones ,non of that. Also if trappers will give them a seven way vaccine actually along with some antibiotics to make sure their good and healthy.  So anyway people who want to run their dogs pay a fee to the peen owner and their able to let their dogs run animals in a place where their plenty of them and it's a safe contained place for the dogs. Apparently alot of people just like watching and listening to the dogs work. Their also a lot of stuff called fire trials where it's basically a tournament with dozens of dogs and their grades as they chase these fox and yotes.

The deal is this is all about JUST THE CHASE !  They do not want a dead fox or coyote. Hence why they stock these pens so full . Apparently it gets to where it's kinda like those races where eyiu pass someone the stick and they take off.  After while that fox or yote gives the pack the slip and they pick up on another one and so on.  Most of these places feed the coyotes and fox pretty well too . Got a picture somewhere a buddy sent me from a fox pen where they where feeding . Had dumped a line of dog food down a lane and had like 25 yotes come out and where just eating like nothing was wrong with anything. And another where they decided to feed mid trail and the dogs and yote where eathing right next to each other they also have special areas in the pen that the game can go where the dogs can't get to them . Safe haven zones if you will

Problems is with a property that big and fences that long animals routinely get out so you constantly have to restock the pen. Also animals do get caught and killed on occasion but what can you do.

People also do it on a smaller scale for rabbits.

Spaniel / gun dog trainers have rabbit pens to help train steadiness in this country. There is no law against it . If you wanted to fence your land off and release foxes you could . In fact there is no law against pest controllers or animal charities dumping foxes . There are also land owners in Scotland who want to rewild large areas of land .
If in your fenced off land some dogs had a little chase and play , who would know ? I wouldn’t be surprised if there was something similar or small scale in this country.

Egh pisses off people here two but most of these pens are the same size as national forest plots just with a fence so I don't see the problem honestly.

And hell they get pissed if your doing it on a estate they get pissed if it's private property they get pissed if someing enjoys just watching dogs chase. f**k em at this point?
