First you need to get in contact with your nearest police station and ask them to send you out some FAC application forms. Then arange to have a meeting with your local FO ( firearms officer). He will help you through all the forms and advise you what to do. The police are genearlly more leneant towards FAC air rifles than rimfire. As they are less likely to have a huge over travel if you miss your target. I have a FAC air rifle in .177 and to be honest it isnt worth the decreased shots per charge of air. You would be better of going for a .22 rimfire, i also found it easyer to get a .17hmr first time as its far less likely to ricochet. Regarding reason for the FAC air rifle, i would put 'for the control of rabbits, hares and corvids on the ground'. Also If i was you mate i would apply for more than just an FAC air rifle. Get as many guns on your FAC as you can first time round. It saves you alot of money in the long run. I have paid £50 for two variations of my FAC. Also dont forget to add that you need a moderator on the air rifle aswell, yes you need to dclare every silencer you have for any FAC rated guns. Hope this helps. Cheers Quote Link to post

TOMY,HMR 0
No, you dont pay for every gun you have. Only for every time you have it varied. Thats why its best to get as many as you can within reason on your first application. As for the so called test . I dont no about that, he may have been twisting your leg. You will need to have proof of suitable land to shoot over though. This generaly requires you to take the FO on a walkabout on the land you want to shoot over. No test though!!!!! I also forgot to put that first time round you will normaly be given a closed ticket. This is where you have to have the FO out to check any new land that you want to shoot over and he needs to give you the OK before you can shoot over the new land. After a while you can have you license opend out. This means that you can pretty much shoot on any land as long as you have a suitable backstop for the gun your using, you have full written permision from the land owner and you are no less than 50 feet from any public highway.
