We have been planning something similar and I'm not joking. Our 9kw shower has been used less by me over the last few weeks. I am now relying on the sniff test before I use it My son has a 3kw radiator in his room, which he isn't using at all. A calculation of 69p per kwh over 24 hours using that radiator would work out £49.68 per day! I know the radiator use is intermittent, but it gives you an idea of costing. I was reading something the other day that was basically saying the cheapest way to heat your home is by using dehumidifiers as they remove the cold, damp air and replace it with dry warm air. No idea if its correct or not but its an interesting thought.

We use them because our living quarters aren't properly vented and stuff gets mouldy. Plus you'd end up looking like a bit of Jerky if you stayed in the room.

Qbgrey 4,089
I just put in a electric heater system that does the rads only. No need for a flue , no gas safe services and inspections.
DIDO.1 22,692
I do pest control in sheltered accomodation, halfway houses and houses full of asylum seekers. One thing I notice in all of them is the heating is on full blast and the lights are left on 24/7. Even when nobody is in. Just been in a terraced house with 4 Africans living there... nobody in yet heating on and every light in every room on. Funny them cnuts don't need to worry about energy bills isn't it
