Looked back!

Recommended Posts

One one place I've been playing cat and mouse with a fox for a few months now.

Seen him a few times, at least once he followed me but I couldn't quite see my sights in the evening light. Nearly as he came into me mouse squeaking and I was just able to make the sights out at 60yds but he made me just before I fired.

He had followed my trail out of the forrest, I had a feeling and waited but never got the shot.

Skip forward a few weeks and while stalking fallow we bumped into each other.

He ran away then turned uphill but stopped to look back.

In the murky light I lined up the sights and sat him on top of them. At about 80yds he just dropped out of view.

I used to think along the same lines mate ,might be different here but there’s rarely one fox left or one fox that knows your movements .Unless it’s a distinctive coat or a limper then it’s just a fox .The place I do there’s a fox ,or so I thought that’s IR shy .The other night I had 3 run from the IR but I had two of them when they stopped to look back .I missed a fox ages back that is understandably IR shy but the other two ,not a clue .There’s a couple that are call shy having called two braces and shot one from each so there’s two more that know I’m trouble .I surprised a fox round a corner last night by a dung heap that took off like his tail was on fire and was still running up a bank two fields away .

Theres a bad limper too that can run like a greyhound if he knows I’m about but his time is probably up soon as he’s on trail cam as regular as clockwork .

Good work on the fox mate but if it’s like here it’s never ending .

Been testing a topsy turvey Valmet for a few days now.

I don't like 26" barrels or topsey turvey guns as a rule but wow, this one comes up spot on every time and follows through. I've taken pheasants, crows, pigeon and squirrels with it and not paid for it yet!IMG_20221227_151253.jpg.ced0cd07b025547d1138042a930fbc7b.jpg
