Caught in act of having poo( the spider not me?)20221224_173033.jpg.2cba2e105a2eb868322bc1d339e0d459.jpg

Frost-proofing mole traps with local materials.20221212_101511.jpg.154784b1df97601f86e9f5117774e6ef.jpg

And it payed off though the mole was still frozen to the trap

This little soul woke me up,  so 3am found me spuddling in the van for a trap. Funny that l heard the mouse running over the carpet but didn't  hear the trap go off. Anyway only one of us saw the Sun rise. 20221208_080840.jpg.460e8bf4931adeaa0512ec7151ffc458.jpg

Hopefully this is the squirrel that was nicking the insulation from a customer's  loft . Coupled with temporary fix to the soffet it seems to've done the job. I didn't  really want to spend Cristmas checking traps any more than they wanted me traipsing past them while they watched the King's Speech?20221224_083524.jpg.cbf996f0967c7277c2c54f21b8100aed.jpgAlmost forgotten what makes tracks like these. 20221212_101535.jpg.8bd07ab1cbf4fd54737705a31fafe12a.jpg

And nothing to do with pest control . But it pays to remember that one trailer wheel on a frozen dung heap and the other on soft mud covered in weak ice is not a good combination.20221214_131344.jpg.e45f1b8d7dc28213111ff8208001e48d.jpg

I won't be forgetting it again?

Happy Christmas!

Interesting pictures. Anything else work to keep the mole traps working during snow/freezing conditions?

The false widows seem to be more common than any other spider around my house. Wonder how common is it to be bitten by one.

I don't know how how common it is to bitten but you are right ; they certainly aren't  rare.  Any coat that's  been hanging in my outhouse for a while will have a nest in it somewhere .

T'other Half  has on two occasions been bitten  on the inner thigh while gardening. Once was definitely by a FBW .  The second assailant wasn't apprehended  but the wounds  were identical  .

A sensible boiler suit tucked into socks has replaced the floaty hippy skirt for all serious horticultural tasks.
