I am trying to keep it a simple as possible so 4lb line straight through. The fist Olivet is a 6g held with a rubber float stop but allowed to flow free up the line then about a foot down is a 4g Olivet again held by a single float stop at the bottom and free running at the top, This means i can make the hook length any length i want just by moving the float stops. Plus its all free line to the float so very little weight for a fish to feel. Well that's the theory anyway Lol

What you after catching paulus

It's Been a while since I did any barbel fishing ,braved the floods today and made the effort...lost what felt like a decent fish just as it was getting dark...recasted with fresh boilies on the hook

A 4lb perch from somewhere i believe has no 4lb perch Lol

The few big 3lb plus perch I have caught all came from live bait using small perch 👍 but fat lob worms are a killer bait for all specimen species.

I have a fair few over 3lb the biggest went to 3lb 12oz but that was out of a commercial. Each year i set myself a challenge and this year is a 4lb perch from the canal on lobworm. The trouble with using lobworm on the canal is the silt, hence me playing about with air popped up lob worms Lol

Well it's go big Friday dc 🤣

Will lighten things up if needs be mate.

Boilie type baits work dc 20231106_191636.jpg.a395cf38ff7005e7d878771e32b8e4fc.jpg

Boilies ,pellet, meat all work well.. after the recent rain we have had, the waters coloured, wrapping your lead and hook baits in paste gives you a little edge...stinkier it is the better 👍

My canal is gin clear at the moment as a few mile is closed to boats, I walked it and found around 20 carp all cruising together between 2 locks but I couldn't get them feeding so much weed but wouldn't take a surface bait tha b*****ds. Lol

But a floating lob worm.....

there are a few marinas around here where the carp now spend most of there time, But when its spawning time the head for an old Boat mooring, This place is on an arm off the main canal, Now the canal can be chocolate but this place is always gin clear with Lilly's and duck weed in the summer, The rest of the canal is devoid of weed due to the amount of boat traffic. Floating lob has caught me a lot of big carp, Give it a try mate, If you inject one you have roughly 15mins before the air comes out and it starts to sink.

Good stuff, cut the tin into 3 chunks, quickly fry it off give it a good skin, thread them up the hooklink👌Dynamite  used to do a 'Meaty Marine Halibut ' in the meat, pellets, boillies, groundbait etc...but stopped it for some reason probably costs?
