Both broke off quite quickly after hooking, think they cut off on rocks. Going to try braid instead of nylon perhaps? They will be doing you in the rocks and gullies . I’m using either esp tungsten soft or korda basix coated braids on there mainly but do occasionally use a combi rig . Once I hook them I tend to bully them at first to try and get them away from the gullies because once they get momentum and start going downstream over the rocks and edges of the gullies they’ll do you more often than not . Another thing to do is check your hook length and first few yards of mainline every so often and also after every fish because it’s surprising how damaged they can get 1 Quote Link to post

paulus 26
A quick visit to one the local commercial fisheries i will actually go to today. This place is like heaven, 6 lakes, a café thats better than most found in town centres and the major attraction, No idiots. The bloke that owns it makes his money from extracting some type of high quality clay. The lakes are just a by-product that are run by his Daughter, A lot of money has been spent on them. There is a large specimen lake with large carp in that go to the mid 20`s, Then there`s a lake with mixed silvers and a few carp that are low doubles, Then there's 3 silver fish lakes with Bream to around the 6lb mark, F1`s, Roach, Skimmers, Rudd, Gudgen and Chub, The last lake is a kids lake full of small silvers and small carp. The largest fish today an F1 just over 4lb. Quote Link to post

DIDO.1 22,661
Hard work tonight with rain and high winds. Got my 2nd barbel and 5 chub. Feel like I've got the tackle right now, learnt to tie hair rigs and got to grips with PVA mesh bags and paste wraps etc. Was all a bit technical for me but got there eventually 8 Quote Link to post
mole trapper 1,693
New venue today, extremely tough going, but a 4lb mirror finally saved a blank. Lots of carp in there, just really clued up, I think they were very busy spawning too. 3 Quote Link to post
Aled 479
My son and i went out last night looking to catch a brown trout for the table, we got one, but slightly bigger than we expected! Flesh is a lovely red colour and will be eaten with home grown veg and a glass of dry white wine. 13 Quote Link to post
