Wolfdog91 7,346
So just outta curiosity, on average about what's the wait time on getting a response for a job over there ? Here it's about a month it seems. Very few places you can just walk in say I need a job talk to the boss and be working by the end of the day like all the older guys keep telling me they did ( must have been friggen nice). Nope it's fill in the application online ( paper apps arent really a thing anymore) , wait wait wait , finally get a email or call in about two to three weeks over the phone interview, in-store interview, THEN your drug test and back ground check which is a well to ten days to get results back.... Then you can start Gotta love that corporate way if doing stuff And that's just the norm unless you know someone or catch the right crew on the right day. Anyway ,any better for y'all ? Even skilled trades. But then seems you need to know a guy who knows a guy already in , it's a weird deal . But then again if you have tools you can make a good bit of side money on your own but that's kinda. Separate deal

Wolfdog must be either in a really poor state or something... 7 bucks an hour...fek that that's modern slavery... What I will say though the yanks weren't on that money .... Union yanks were on around 850 a week plus benefits... And as tradesmen...most aren't that great Yanks like to think there great with stuff like I'm a journey man carpenter say or master brick layer or that can of crap...when in reality it means they can only turn there hand at that certain things...like say a master joiner as they call them would be a specialist in putting in a window but couldn't hang a door.

NEWKID 27,472
My lads 17, and been applying for part time work whilst at college only one to come back so far is Screwfix, he interviewed on Monday waiting for the answer... it took them 3 weeks to reply to his online application.. so will ge over 4 weeks from start if he gets an answer next week... shit really.. I've interviewed and employed a fair few lads over the years, normally a mate knows them or something similar they are straight away starters, even the people I've interviewed I've let them know in a couple of days max...can't see what the big hold up is... corporate bullshit

Do you get health care when you sign up for a job? How about holiday entitlement? Are unions big where you are or in your job? Is it worth belonging to a union? Can you live decently on your pay? When do you get to retire and what are pension rates? It's interesting to compare. We have state pensions which in my case is worth £ 600 a month in my hand. You have to be 67 to draw your pension and have done 30 years work. Most peoples' pay over here has taken a big hit with the financial crisis and inflation and is worth a lot less. Virtually the whole of the public sector are taking part in strikes. Edited December 16, 2022 by jukel123

But unless you arr a paedo or a mass murderer you should be given work right away.
