None of this forehead knuckling and knowing their place from this generation. Good luck to them. My grandson was here In the U K with us when his dad died, and we had great problems getting him back to Saudi, as he has British nationality, and was only two, but we got it sorted, and his mother, grand parents and extended family in Saudi love him and spoil him unbelievably, but he is well grounded and is doing exceptional at school. I try to give him the education I think he needs, which includes The countryside, horses, dogs, chickens, ducks, Newcastle United, Allotments, etc, when he is here ! ! Cheers. 2
jukel123 7,957
The greatest bang I ever got on Xmas Day was a comic annual. Starting off with the Beano or the Dandy and graduating ( when I was 35) to the Hotspur and the Eagle. I can still remember the new smell of the cardboard, the colours, the stories. I used to sit in a corner and read them right the way through and then repeat. Brilliant. Then I would bargain with my brothers. I'll let you read my Hotspur annual if you give me half an hour practising keepy ups with your new football, or half an hour working out with your boxing gloves. Lol In fact I've just bought my brother a couple of Eagle annuals circa late fifties for his Xmas. I'll demand a shot on whatever he's got for Xmas in return mind. Please no jokes about blow up dolls. It would take more than that to get me going.

Lenmcharristar 9,721
For hungry kids i think the local community centres should be feeding them game, the tv chefs should be on promoting the health benefits of eating game and wild caught fish, they should be taught how to catch and cook it, times are a must now feck all the lefty bollix bla bla they should be shown the wild larder and feed themselves, it would help thin the deer population too

Cheers. Rings a bell mate. I bought the Eagle annuals from Ebay and had a quick read before I wrapped them up ( well the Mrs wraps presents, I'm a a 50s man, we don't do girly stuff.) I swear I remembered an illustration of a shifty looking native holding a rock, dressed in a turban being knocked out by a square chinned blue eyed brit. Seriously! felled by a square channel Edited December 14, 2022 by jukel123

He's only seven I remember when I got a torch or a kaleidoscope Cheers. Be sure to surprise him with an orange, some mixed nuts, and one small toy

Qbgrey 4,065
I think people are too quick to ask for money these days, a youngish chap passed away near us recently and his 3 sons started a go fund me apeal ( give us your money ) for the dads furneral as they wanted to give him a good send off, the 3 sons were 25.23,21 years old ffs. I’d be fuking embarrassed asking for something so personal to be paid by others , surely it’s the boys duty to see thier old man put to bed. Probably cost them 1500 each ffs. 4

king 11,972
Best pair of trainers I had as a kid were second hand 1's.. No matter how you was brought up if you want a better life than what you grew up with..then go for it..there's funding for nearly everything today..any course or trade etc..funding for courses or training or even retraining.. The only thing holding someone back is in there own head..and the biggest fear people have is worrying what others think of them..its almost like a poison.. You have a chance to do anything you want to do..you might aswell go for it as you are a long time dead..

Personal I think Kids get too much given to them these days. Think it's starts them on a path of wanting every think given to them not having earn it. We had f**k all and looking back a lot of parents were a bit naive having not long come back from war. Father liked the pub and the horses and wasted a lot of money, you could tell the smart parents didn't go out invested in the kids and car decorating etc. Be sent around next doors with a cup asking to borrow a cup of sugar till pay day. Having said that we weren't starving just never had f**k all. If I came home with a rabbit a swede or some turnip tops mum would smile. Different days no double glazing, no central heating, no hot water only the pot belly stove for heat and that heated the water but made the water brown with rust lol. If I wanted something I had to earn it had two paper rounds in the morning, worked on a market garden weekends as soon as I was old enough to work. Left home when I was sixteen had to learn how to cook and manage money. Taught me I would never be like my parents yeah I would have a night out but not waste all the money there or in the bookies. I just don't see the drive in the young these days to improve them selves not all obviously but a lot. A lot just seem happy to just survive. I see some friends of my youngest lad still in their first job in Morrisons after 20 years still stacking selfs, I suppose if there happy thats okay. I notice young families stacking the ready meals, crisps, chocolate in their baskets but no fresh veg or fruit nothing that has to be cooked up proper. Then on the way out of the super market the same people queuing to spend the last few quid on Lotto tickets and fags. Cheers Arry
