Stevie D 9
Pretty sure there were folk from various "clubs" that went the KC route. I'd be surprised if the gene pool was made up of only 50 terriers but I know they opened the register again a few years back and invited some of the "clubs" to register their terriers. True Jack Russell? That's a bold statement coming from anyone. If you look at the pictures in Hunt & Working Terriers, most of them are of old lakelend/fox terrier type. So because it looks like a lakey doesn't mean it is. I associate russells with a style of work, not how they look. Donny C, any chance of some informed comments? Stevie Quote Link to post

Guest pip
See i did nt mean to offend promise, but what made ask was i seen a mate at a meet one day about 5 years ago and he told me he had a parson and added it s the "cream of the cream".Right very good i thought and tried not to look stupid, not easy mind.So would it not be an obvious back slide in working qualities if these white bodied terriers are being judged primarily for the conformation?Being kc reg im assuming this is the way it works? Are they judged at kc shows as well as wts and would these dogs be penalised for signs of work? Ps the more i think about this im really curious about these questions. thanks Quote Link to post

donnyc 1,203
a jack russell is a white bodied terrier so they are all jack russells and all black terriers are pats?or fell type?? yeah right ..Not getting too involved with this one .Find a proper old type SMOOTH russel now like hens teeth .Im afraid its all gone too far now with the white lakie blooded stuff now in fact the JRTCGB are bigger culprits than the KC.You want a decent proper old type russell now look abroad.Germany have the better type than the UK now .I remember when you could put a white terrier to a coloured one and you would get reds now you get red, white and tricoloured but mostly russell coloured??As with all types small pockets will break away and breed right but the showmen have already started on the blacks and they will in time be ruined.
