I dunno mate, I reckon it got harder when a family needed both parents to work their bollocks off to get by and improve their lot.

...... house prices sky-rocketed and now, most stuff is following suit - some kids have gone feral because the parents are knackered.

I might be wrong, I might be right, just an observation on some mates that escaped the estate.

But don’t you think it instilled values ,a work ethic and sense of belonging all sadly missing in the youth I see walking about trousers hanging off their butt cheeks and all talking like niggers ..National service wasn’t unpaid mate and some of it didn’t require a move to barracks .There was also an age limit for a starter and  pension if you stayed in for x amount of years .

I agree that the old way of the man proving and the women looking after the house and kids is no longer valid due to the costs of running a household. But then you have all the influence that social media has on the kids, They are being brainwashed, Parents give very young kids tablets and phones to play on. Most can use these devices even before they can even speak properly, Its the easy option but who's to blame, if both parents have to work all hours just to keep a roof over their heads?.

Fair comment mate but, I do think that immigration and the parent unit has a lot to answer for the issues you mention.

My dad was a builder,  I was encouraged to get up early and use my muscles, an element of competition was encouraged at work - because of H&S legislation nowadays,  I think a lot of that is lost...... young lads aren't tought to be men.

When I was a young fella nobody where I worked was gonna build cabins faster than me, and I wasn't alone in that mindset, being a fast tidy worker was something to be proud of, nowadays most lads couldn't care less how untidy or slow they are they're just killing time.

I think the world sped up to fast.

Spot on mate

..... I think that mindset has been lost - competition between lads to be how fast and how strong you can be

They were the good old days.

Try to explain this to our 17 year old. At 14 I was working on farms and trying to compete with the men, trying to stack more bales etc. I wanted to prove I was their equal. Now these young kids look down on adults, thinking they know it all, society supports em in being a lazy, manner less know all's

Correct mate .We’ve had a few apprentices through the local college and out of 9 only one was worth paying .Can’t shout at them ,can’t take their phones and can’t make them do manual work .Those are some things stated in the papers they arrive with .Bit more technically written obviously .Wont have any more based on that shit and everyone else I know says same so the trades will die out eventually I’d say .

10 million insurance asked for as well which we have in place anyway but the one man band isn’t going to have that amount ,it’s too expensive so again another teacher lost .

In court all dress rules have been removed, young people can turn up dressed in t shirt and shorts if they want. They also can't be asked to take hoods down or hands out of pockets anymore.

Kids have no fear of anyone these days...when i was growing up,you stepped out of line, got mouthy etc,was always someone on hand to give you a slap,(shop keeper, teachers, coppers, local hardnut )and to f**k with the consequences...taught you some manners and when to keep your mouth shut and behave..

Dont get me started on young lads getting into a trade and working on site....?
