mixed martial artist will beat a boxer most times mate easily imagine usyk v jon jones or joshua or fury it would be embarrassing 

 

nothing gentle about getting kicked to or elbow or knee to the head gnash is take getting punch over that any day

Yes but whats that got to do with Karate ?.....Ufc itself was originally about finding out " what works " in a real fight......and Karate has never or will ever be used,proofs in the pudding.

Mixed martial arts ufc etc were born from Bruce lee’s style of fighting which is called jeet Kun do. He was already a kung fu master but thought it was too restrictive and like most martial arts relied on set moves that you practiced almost robotically. He studied all forms of fighting and grappling and and invented jeet kun do which incorporated the best aspects of all the fighting disciplines.

Jeet Kune Do is primarily a philosophy of life and physical transcendence,many people read Bruce Lee's writings and confuse reading it with understanding it very little of it was about " fighting " as such but more about exploring the edges of human potential..........in terms of mma/ufc it could just as easily be argued that wrestling/boxing are both more effective than true martial arts....hence the original point that " Karate " itself was found wanting as an option in a real fight.

Yes it was a philosophy and a way of being which is true of all eastern martial arts. But jeet kun do is a taught and practised form of martial arts that was designed perfected and taught by Bruce Lee. It’s widely acknowledged as the forerunner to mma. It is a serious martial art that is designed to be brutal and effective in a fight not look good dancing around a dojo.

some of the best strikers ever have a karate background mist of the kick-boxers started with karate king fu and taekwondo it’s stand up striking mma is mixed martial arts not just one and karate has been successful in the ufc

bruce lee incorporate different style from king fu to boxing in jest kun do as you say really was the first to see one style wasnt the way 

 

boxing wrestling are ok 

but i’d say karate and jiu jitsu would be a much better background both traditional martial arts gnash

Boxing, muay Thai, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu is the combination for a successful mixed martial artist, not jeet kun do, not karate, not taekwondo, not putting any style down, but it is the full on real way of training in Boxing and muay Thai that teach you how to go toe to toe hitting heavy, and taking the impact. looking back at karate competitors, Andy Hug, Francisco Filho, and Semmy Schilt, they must have had a good bit of coaching on Thai pads to be able to compete in K1, the practice of 1 technique kicking a big oblong shield over and over again isn't realistic like focus pads, Thai pads, bag work,shadow boxing etc. Somebody should make a pad video for everyone to have a  at
