I worked with Des Philips , he was a flight engineer with 617 squadron. He wasn't on the dambusters operation, but flew on the operation that sank the German battle ship Tirpitz. He was awarded a medal when their bomber lost an engine on take off on a bombing mission and he managed to get it of the ground and complete its mission.

He was a flight sergeant as a teenager !

He told some great stories to us young 'uns  when we worked together with the Royal Saudi Airforce.

The countries " greatest generation " are sadly almost gone.........

I wouldnt count the blacks in on that mate, most have no sense of loyalty to GB neither to the camel jockeys, although there is the exceptions. In GB  we have been made feel ashamed to be proud to be british, look across the pond they are american 1st we could learn a few things from those lads

Not in the world i live in ...... i have three boys and they have never robbed a shop or rioted nor their friends !  they have never seen a big cat  either even though they spent their  days beating  in the thousands of acers of woodland that surrounds us , it must be  City life ?

Well that's  3 the country can rely on, if the shit hits the fan pal,our armed forces ain't what they used to be..Lots of folks out there like to pretend they could be a Hero...but in reality,they are just full of shit...clapping the NHS , flying a Ukrainian flag in the window or ranting on Foolsbook is about all they can muster ....

I went to Woodhall Spa home of 617 Squadron a few months ago if your ever up that way have a walk around the town and read some of the boards that are scattered around the place different breed altogether, I was looking at relocating there but my Mrs wasn’t keen, Coningsby is just around the corner as well where you can watch dozens of Typhoons taking off and landing.
