Yeah, ya gotta look after your old pals,..they deserve a wee bit of comfort... "Work them hard and treat them like Heroes"..?

all working dogs should be kenneled outside.indoors will make them soft.as a young man I actually believed this. experience has learnt me that it makes no difference whatsoever .seen dogs looking soft

I think in general, dogs kept outside can offen suffer with any bites, cuts etc going unnoticed. Like what has been said…hard nights lamping, chuck it in the kennel.., if you walk it before work it’s probably still dark… come home that night his foot or face is swollen… inside you notice things a lot quicker

Bang on this time of year mate out [BANNED TEXT] it’s dark home [BANNED TEXT] it’s dark eh am thinking about packing the terriers in an just keeping the lurcher bitch Iv here been grafting non stop so if anyone no’s any young lads want a leg up terriers locators spades boxes pm me

I've found the dogs kept inside were more loyal, guard the house and family (even the whippet)and are generally more of an all round and responsive animal rather than being purely a hunting dog. Sounds weird but that doesn't include my chihuahuas, they are much healthier outside except in freezing weather but they are very tough little animals, more like a miniature cattle dog in their health.

House and kennel

Kennel good thing to have  at times like when they in season  etc

I've never liked idea of a dog sitting in a kennel all day waiting to get out and then straight back in once lamping etc finished .

My dogs not just workers they companion's and part of the family and my two love the sofa but at times they evicted to the kennel

I think it's best to get a dog used to being in a kennel before the house otherwise you probably end up with a Barker ,

All my dogs are   kennelled outside until they start to lose condition with old age, then they get the sofa, least I can do,when they served you well .. I always carry a first aid kit and a few tubes of dry cow in the motor...that way then I can see to any cuts ,tears etc straight away,by the time I get home swelling is minimal, they are fed a warm meal and crated up with a heat lamp?

dog outside in kennel, with  good heat lamp, he comes next morning, nice fresh with little bounce . when i lamped him few night a week, when he was younger, i  go over all his back shoulders, and check his feet, then feed him nice big dinner, then heat lamp on, it lets the dog stretch out,  stop them rolling up in a ball shape, it that makes the lame, if they had lot of hard runs in the night, many time Buck have 2-3 hours lamping, with long hard runs. maybe i might have had little beddyx whippet type lurcher in the house little dog, but most of my dogs have been big dogs 25 - 28in 60 - 88lb , when there that big, deff outside , dont want the smell/ dog hair in my bungalow , it nice property  , not a feckin big kennel lol, being outside anyway like been said dogs like there on space ,.

It shows how little you know about canids apart from the one trick sand slugs. Chihuahuas were semi wild dogs that hunted game of all sorts including pigs. They still retain the toughness and survive diseases that would kill most dogs. Not all dogs are an extension of our dicks and I can see why you need very, long dogs ?
