Bit of a wander.

Went to a mates shop for some catty ammo,he always makes me a coffee and gets the biscuits out as we have shared interests.He was telling me in the late 1980’s he sold milbro catapults for £1.75 went for a wander,missed two shots at squirrels,found a giant mushroom,and Nell McAndrew the TV personality jogged past,second time I have seen her out running.

I found my old catty in the shed a few weeks ago, Pigeon on the electricity pylon missed twice, then hit it right in the head, it just looked at me and flew off. next shot the band snapped. Mind they must have been on there at least 5 years or even longer.

You have to be careful in there, park rangers would be straight on you if anyone reported you, loads of squirrels, pigeons, parrots etc, she was jogging past, very pretty lady

My first introduction to them was an imperial mint up side the head from a mate from a good 70 yards .After that I had to have one .Shot many pheasants to roost and pigeons .Never mastered the running shot but mate used to take his ratting with the smoker and whack a few on the move and in trees .Decent in the right hands .Used to collect lorry wheel bearing ballbearings from a fitters shop and use them about 8 mm I guess .Used to practice on fray bentos pie tins at 20 m

Some mushroom that, what was the weight and dimensions?

Maybe 9 inches across,quite heavy,biggest one I have found,going to get some mistletoe from there,loads about.

Got a squirrel today, head shot, hung upside down, ran down the tree slowly and into a woodpile, couldn't find it

Went out the other night at dusk with thermal and shot a jay with my catty ,  was pleased as first one I've shot with a catty. That thermal opens up a whole new world when wondering about with it. I wished I'd of bought one sooner.

 

Loving the avatar Mac, years and years ago when I was having a go at different little businesses here and  there my mates used to call me Mr Ben pmsl .

great post its been too long since i have been out on a proper mooch. really like that little tabbed diy catty loads of character! what size square do you shoot with what ammo? i have used tubes but never square - wouldn't mind giving them a bash.
