Shamo 319
How many Rabbits would you allow your Bird to 'Crop up' on, once she is catching ok? Mine has had 3 now, she has gorged on all 3. Just wanted to know when I can have one??.....lol. Quote Link to post
SPAR 2
When I got my harris entered I let her feed up on about 6-7 before trading her for chicks Quote Link to post
Shamo 319
THANKS FOR REPLY MATE, I FIGURED IT WOULD BE AROUND THAT SORT OF AMOUNT. WOULD YOU OFFER A HOLE CHICK UP AND COVER THE RABBIT? IF SHE STARTS TO STRUGGLE TO KEEP HOLD OF IT DO I CARRY ON TRYING TO TAKE THE RABBIT OR WHATEVER? Quote Link to post
SPAR 2
What I did is when the bird is on a kill like a rabbit hold the back legs cover it with your glove or gamebag throw a chick just out of reach from the bird so it has to leave the kill for the chick they may put up a bit of a struggle to start with but the bird will soon give up and leave the kill Quote Link to post
SeanTheHawker 0
all depends on the bird i guess, i went the first season with my bird doing single kilsl only, bar 3 outings, 2 doubles and a treble. soon paid of in the second season! Quote Link to post
trappa 518
THANKS FOR REPLY MATE, I FIGURED IT WOULD BE AROUND THAT SORT OF AMOUNT. WOULD YOU OFFER A HOLE CHICK UP AND COVER THE RABBIT? IF SHE STARTS TO STRUGGLE TO KEEP HOLD OF IT DO I CARRY ON TRYING TO TAKE THE RABBIT OR WHATEVER? I usually give it a minimum of around ten kills before i start to take her up before she has finished. Any less she could well think you are robbing her. If she is struggling to keep hold of the rabbit then dont just carry on taking the rabbit-its the worst thing you could do. She would distrust you for ages if you did- dont rush into multiple kills until your both ready or you will have an angry bird that will make you look a prize prat when you go to make in-honest! Shamo 319
Cheers for replies. I am not bothered about having any Rabbits really. The Sport is enough for me, but I don't want to go out and have one kill too many times. Nice to make a day of it!!....lmao. The female does know how to catch well, going straight to the front after initial contact. The male is a bit slower and hasn't actually caught anything yet. They have done everything to get away from him, which has been frustrating for both of us! I will be 'engineering' a couple of positive outcomes this weekend, as I don't want him losing heart. I also admit to spending more time on my female, who is a natural. Time to give the male a few more goes and he will DEFINITELY get a catch this weekend. Thanks again. Quote Link to post
