Lennard 10
L.S., I've read before that lamping lamp shy rabbits with red filters gives good results. But do the dogs take to that as dogs cannot see red (or very little)? Or is it just the handler using a red filter to get close and than switching to white light again? L Quote Link to post
Guest coney catcher99
we use red to spot and run the dog till it gets up on the rabbit then pull the filter off they take to it like duck to water Edited January 28, 2008 by coney catcher99 Quote Link to post
tote 854
The dogs can see the rabbits no problem with the red filter on. I do the same as coney catcher, the bitch goes down the beam with the red filter on then when/if the rabbit starts to run I flick the filter up and use the white light. Quote Link to post

IVE ALWAYS RAN MY PUPS ON A WHITE LIGHT AND AFTER ABOUT 20 ODD RUNS I GET THEM USED TO THE RED ONE, THAT WAY THEY GET USED TO CATCHING AND RETRIEVING THEN THE RED MEANS THEY CAN UP THEIR BAG CONSIDERABLY, AS MOST OF THE RABBITS ROUND ME ARE SHY AS Quote Link to post
