I just got 10kg  of chicken legs an nearly a kg of sardines for 25quid in sainsbury.

Be interesting to find out how much people feed a day, depending on the size of the dog,my two lurchers are 27 an 28 kg in weight,so I'd give a kg in chicken an two tins of sardines a day.

Sounds alot

Nothing like the sheep's head rising through the froth and the eyeball glaring at you. ???

You guys are right,.. the raw meat situation has definitely spiralled out of control? Most Butchers nowadays , have chosen to sell their scrap meat for dog food, and process everything into 'pet

I personally think raw feed prices have gone mental I used to pretty much fill two chess freezers for £80 of a good mix of raw foods I used to buy in as it was all waist products it was cheap as chips

It’s not just dog food that’s gone up it’s everything… your weekly shop has doubled so obviously dog food will go up.. I buy tripe from a pet shop, and chicken and fish from the supermarket. It’s not cheap to feed a couple of dogs, but it’s still a cheap hobby. I’ve just spent £100 of fuel for a days ferreting in the dales ?… compared to fuel, £20 on a bit of meat is nothing in comparison.

I feed kitchen scraps as well but noticed biscuits prices have gone up again went an picked a bag of skinners up Saturday £27.99 used to be 19.99 a bag I’m glad I no longer keep multiple dogs anymore an just have one or two kicking about with todays prices

Your right both biscuits and meat have gone up n some dearer than supermarkets.

I know a couple of lads who've recently stopped running there freezer aswell due to rising bills.

Most Butchers nowadays , have chosen to sell their scrap meat for dog food, and process everything into 'pet mince'.. Obviously, they would be foolish not to utilise everything at their disposal to help pay the rent, but it is a bit of a blow to the lad with a team of running dogs and dirt dogs...It makes everything kinda pricey..?

The Slaughter houses have also tightened up on certain matters and you really do need to be, 'in the know' and well in , to get a regular supply from such places.  I have been fortunate in securing fallen stock , via the Local Hunt, but even that avenue can dry up ..  so, ya just gotta improvise and give the dogs, what you can...

No different to previous hard times,. and a canny hunting man will always survive....?

Luckily for me got a contact in local slaughter house and passes work most days so will drop a bit in and out. The fallen stock isn’t around now like it was. With modern farming practices and the tightening up of dairy bulls having to have a right to life on some dairy contracts.

Used to have a steady supply of bull calves back in the day .Shot with captive bolt soon as they were born but as you say , dosnt happen now .

Easy skinning ,easy portioned and easy  digest .

White ones where always culled, madness that it cost more to raise them than they could get selling them on, was handy as you say ?

As katch says was costing more to tag them then they was worth. There not about like they was now with sexed semen.
