To much hard work need decent sized tanks , frequent water changes and smell. why don’t you get a tortoise ?  so long you get decent enclosure  so dogs can’t chomp it , if you get a horsefield

They are fine providing you clean them out like anything else .Stinking cages or tanks say more about the owner than the pet .

they stink like f**k and carry salmonella ?

so long you get decent enclosure  so dogs can’t chomp it , if you get a horsefield or Herman’s get a combined uv/heat spotlight bulb , you can go round weed picking, obviously make sure it’s in area not been sprayed with weed killer , stuff like dandelions , wild plantain and cleavers/goose grass /sticky bud tjen dust it with nutrabol and limestone powder for its vitamins for shell growth ?

Daughters got a tortoise, nice little thing... a lot bloody quicker than I though, especially when its after biting your foot! Lol

The fan shrimps better mate, he's nocturnal so you turn the light to blue and he goes hyper almost. He's class

The frogs amazing, do you need to give it a island area to get out of the water? What does it eat. Love that.

No mate fully aquatic and just blocks of frozen bloodworm. They've got 3 or 4 of them and they are funny things to be fair

I got given these last night. The thought of all the water changes etc is a but daunting but these have coped with local tap water and very infrequent water changes up till now so I'm hoping they will be ok.

If memory serves Gnash is the man for these.

I know my grandad kept these; he said you keep water not discus

Honestly any water turtle is a pain unless you have a good bit of room and like building stuff .

I've had snapping turtles , red rear sliders and stink pots and if you have room to have something like a kiddy pool and make a bio filter along with a sunning rock they can be pretty enjoyable but honestly I feel anything like a little 20gal fish tank is just not very good. Also the small stuff end up stinking to high heaven without a really good filter

If he wants a reptile that easy to take care of leopard gecko's are a good choice. Would have one or two but my place is too drafty.

We have two tanks on the go,ones a shrimp /guppy tank, the other is a community  tank, lots of different types,we have blue Moscow guppy's and tiger barbs,...if I was starting again ,I'd avoid the guppy's,they breed like mad,I emptied the shrimp tank (or so I thought) and I missed 4 guppy's...we now have near 60/70 again...we have assassin snails in that tank...the secret to a healthy tank is set it up first, get the water parameters correct, get a few plants, decent rocks and create structure with hidey holes for fish to escape ,do your research, social fish that don't need over the top attention..then add your choice of fish later ...,then just regular water change ,...the fighting fish are more suited to smaller tanks, they get burnt out fast if they swim around a lot, carrying those exaggerated fins, but are spectacular to view
