Shame there ain’t many pubs in Combe now. My mum and dad left me and my brother in Exeter and went up to the pub in Combe Martin, I was 19 brother was 17.... we had a f***ing great time! Lol until my brother got his girlfriend pregnant at 18 she was 17, they're now married with 2 great adult kids.... we had the baby in with us in the house, the partying got a bit too much, I was a proud uncle and wanted to show off the baby, even early hours... so that didn't go down well lol.. Great times in the Top George though, Earl of Rhone weekend was always a laugh, the carnival was good too.. beat Keith Allen in pool in there one carnival weekend, he was in often with Damien Hirst who lived local.. My mate done a disco up there one night and Keith Allen, Joe Strummer and Damien Hirst were all in there, he played vindaloo (they all had input on the song/art work) and they sang it and signed his CD he was made up...lol It was a strange place for us City folk....lol 1

It died off for a few years but seems to be having bit of a resurgence. Amazing what people visit that little village. One Christmas grandad was in the pub and was sat drinking beer with Danny grewcock (England rugby) didn’t have a clue who he was till I told him and obviously bill Bailey being a regular. Mum and dad left the village as soon as possible now when they visit there glad they did same old faces in the same old pubs
