All wise words lads, and here’s the thing, it should be easy to do all the things you say……but personally I don’t think we live in that world. Imho, the whole system is set up to put people in de

That's the way to do it. We have young country blokes now in $100 000 Landcruisers, they have to work 60 plus hours a week in the mines to afford it. Their young wives want a brand new house with high

With work vans I used to price it against how many jobs it would take before everything was profit, so if I couldn’t pay for it in 2 or 3 jobs I didn’t want it. The other thing, I like to own stu

Life's a gamble, stick it on black then?

It's a rainy day fund not a weekend in Vegas fund.

My mate all love gambling, from horses to holidays based around casinos. It really isn't for me.

I do quite fancy learning to play poker though

My mates the same, lost maybe a million, I don't even put the lottery on but I did used to bet the equivalent of a quid on cockfights now and again.

Buy gold, it will get you out of bad situations fast

You're right Squire

I used to find it a bit ridiculous to see the preppers with their bug out vehicles loaded to the hilt with everything including the kitchen sink, as if they were going to survive the nuclear holocaust, but not anymore

Imagine coming home from work to find your house is knee deep in water courtesy of the local river bursting its banks, hey presto! the space beneath your passenger seat has your screw in stove, and a small gas canister, along with some tea bags, 3 in 1 coffees, a bottle of water, and your metal cup, under your drivers seat is a wool blanket, and a pair of heat holders socks, how much would these few easily carried items mean to you once you'd hightailed it the few hundred yards to higher ground to take refuge in the woodland carpark gold in hand?

No if youve no cash due to collapse of banking systems, war etc etc and you need to get out of harms way then you pay the underground systems or fishing boat captain etc a fee to get you to another destination on the quiet, equally you could just pay to stay in a hotel instead of the local woods car park, by paying in soild gold

If we had a nuclear blast or what ever I think the person with the heaviest gun would get what he needed ok, gold would be useless

THL road-trip thread, gone from if you haven't got the cash for something should you get into debt for it to nuclear holocaust survival robberies in 6 bumpy pages ?

The peepers crack me up especially the ones that went on tv

oh I paid cash for my 10 years worth of supplies so the government man doesn’t know I’ve got it ,

but then let myself go on tv so all the viewers know ??

Or the ones with a large rucksack full of all the gear .
um yeah you don’t stand out much or will be able to outrun the chavs  when they finished looting jd sports and curry’s for widescreen tvs .

If the worst was to happen, buy everything you can as fast as you can, as within a short space of time there wont be anything left to buy and money will become useless, Having gold may be a blessing on one hand but will also make you a target on the other, As soon as you trade it for anything then word would get out. If you had a place where you could go to where nobody would find you, Then what good would that gold do you?.

I've never been one to watch & look after my money which was quite silly looking back, of course the realities of life now control my finances and I find that we are just ticking over, most people these days are.

Stop buying kebab meat and chips for the Akita, ??

Managing money is an art....ive had times being obsessed with money and was always decent at turning over a pound note but i think over time the better off an uneducated div like me becomes the more you rely on good people around you to give good advice, even if it costs you....speculate to accumulate and all that.....its about knowing who you are in my opinion if you're a hardworking chap who likes the routine of a 9 to 5 and not particularly ambitious then managing dough shouldnt be particularly difficult but if you've set the bar high and you're focused and driven to achieve then chances are you wont be doing it alone.....knowing yourself and having trusted people around you is vital to ambitious financial aspirations in my opinion.

I grow my own fruit, veg, have chickens for eggs and meat plus a couple of bullock grass eaters which will be eaten some time. I grow my own smoko. I don't want much and have my cars for ten years plus. I don't have much money but I don't spend much. I've never been interested in wealth and being a slave to the system. Simple is good.
