Okay so about to dive into a late in life mortgage, fancied a pickup, fancied new this and that , come to realise every item will cost me another hour day year in work , now I'm thinking I'll make it through ànd use a cheap runabout. Do any of you guys work out hours against stuff ... IE if I own this I spend less in work etc. It's how I'm gonna move forward without doubt.

All wise words lads, and here’s the thing, it should be easy to do all the things you say……but personally I don’t think we live in that world. Imho, the whole system is set up to put people in de

That's the way to do it. We have young country blokes now in $100 000 Landcruisers, they have to work 60 plus hours a week in the mines to afford it. Their young wives want a brand new house with high

Have we to assume it’s for work and pleasure?. I’m only asking because I purchased a little Honda CRV and to be honest, love the thing to bits. Bit more than a grand but what a lovely little car. Jok.

The other thing, I like to own stuff so that there’s no surprises……I know mortgages are not realistic but most other stuff is.

If things get sticky, the less you owe the better.

Nothing is more important than experiences, your kids educations, and their future, everything else is immaterial.

My biggest fear is having to work 4 days a week to pay my monthly’s, don’t get me wrong o got a phone an so have me kids an that, but we own both cars(cheap run abouts), no credit cards or nowt, I got a shit credit score jist because I don’t really do credit ? it’s mental tho, try an pay for everythjn yourself so you can pocket all you earn(Barring that wank tax man), but aye like I say, it would kill ke paying for a car or 2, an credit card bills an allsorts every month, if I want summat I usually hold off buying it for a while, an it’s amazing how often j change me mind an don’t actually need it haha but that way I can put some cash aside an go buy it when j got enough, it works most of time ?

like i said there a big difference between wanting something and actually needing something.

Personally all I owe is my mortgage. Drive around in a 06 x trail that done 165 thousand miles that I have abused for three years and cost me £1200. Don’t see the thing with pickups unless you really need one tbh. My mates have got them paid 10k plus and now just as buggered as my x trail. ??‍♂️

Being Scottish means you have a genetic predisposition toward frugality .

Credit cards are a ok way to pay for bigger things if you use them right,  if I put anything thing on the card it's paid of in the month without fail, you also get a lot of protection with a card its their money not yours ....its down to the individual I suppose.
