Never even saw pumpkins in the shops round here. 

Folk moan about the  the trick or treat thing but there seems to be an unspoken rule , in my area at least  , that the T&Ters only bother houses with lanterns and decorations on display. And most of the children round here are chaparoned by parents . 

Bonfire night was the big thing in my childhood.  We never made much from Penny for the Guy but l suppose a pair of someone's Mum's old tights stuffed with newspaper and a paper bag for a head wasn't  very impressive

Throwing bangers or setting them off in bottles and cow pats seemed so normal. As did  taking the binding off  Catherine wheels before lighting and releasing them amongst your mates.

Some bugger stuck a lighted sparkler down my welly boot once. It melted into the rubber and l couldn't  pull it out. I still have a scar!

I suppose the emphasis on Halloween and trick or treating is a bit safer for children ,unless they call on Gary Glitter.

 

Crow scarers were the worst, Pull the fuse out as far as it would go then light it and place it in one of the empty milk bottles outside the front door, Knock the door and run like f**k Lol

Something I didn't know. Some towns in the US, have their trick or treat night on different dates, and not on the 30th.

Didn't used to mind kids coming around with a parent but in then developed into teenagers asking for money eggs thrown on houses flower bombs on car. So f**k it I'll be a grumpy old b*****d lol.

Got this for the gate and printed off a few more for old folk around here.

My kids go out to friends and family wouldn’t take them to strangers houses. Soon as it’s about 7pm the gates to the house are closed and the dog released for the night lol

I sit in the front garden for an hour or so and play the game. Most of the kids that appear live in my street and come with a parent. 

When threatened with " Trick or treat" demands l sometimes say l'd rather have a trick. It really throws them.   One day l'll come unstuck and fall victim to a four year old with a concealed weapon .
