Wouldn't go to the NHS unless on deaths door. Your taking your life in your own hands taking a trip there.

It's like everything else in life, you get what you pay for and the NHS is free so what sort of health care do folk think their going to get? If your health isn't a priority for you then the NHS shouldn't disappoint. For major operations you'd be best considering going private and getting your money out. What's more important than your health.

I have to go to Rotherham District Hospital every month for physio and have to be honest its first class with hardly any waiting time over my appointed time though tbh its not doing me any good and i feel like cancelling my appointments as i think i am wasting their time and mine.

My ole fella had a heart attack while in hospital for kidney failure and we were constantly asking why he had taken a turn for the worse the answer we got was we don't know, we were only told he had a heart attack after he was discharged a fortnight later.

The NHS has some excellent staff but the culture frowns on them being as good as they can and want to be imho 

Dont get me wrong, some are outright shit but that’s not true for all.

The NHS believes it’s own bullshit, it’s always “we can’t do a good job because we need more money” which in the real world everyones knows is absolute bollocks !

Doing basic things well has absolutely nothing to do with money !…….the waste of resources is also breathtaking, doing things badly 6 times when they could have done it right once ! 
The culture of “not our fault, need more money” is what will ultimately  allow those who wish to privatise the service to kill it off.

Just be f***ing better !

I bashed my wrist whilst on the mtb last Monday, went a&e on Tuesday, they X rated it, strapped it up and sent me home, as there is no radiographer at the local hospital they had to send the X rays away to be read.  Rang me next day to go back to the hospital to have a plaster cast put on FFS, surely if they have an X ray set up they should have someone there who could read them?

Next door neighbour has Chrone's disease (spelling) it flared up on Sunday and after 16 hours no ambulance had arrived so his missus had to take him the 20+ miles to the hospital where he's being treated, instead of starting a new job yesterday, as a doctor's receptionist

Agree with a lot of posts, it's difficult in so much as they save us or loved ones, I've spent months in hospital with my son in the last four years, certain things stand out in brief... Long shifts for staff, lack of funding, lack of training , low morale, some amazing people, some god awful people that shouldn't be in care. A system based on financial and patient turnover, swamped by care home patients , missing basic standards, as an example a laser was missing off an important piece of equipment and the girls had no clue on finding the correct height with a torch so when I questioned consultant he said he'd like into it I said I have they're 50 dollars online I bought a couple online and left them with the ward  (nurses said the Lazer goes missing , I said attach with a small chain or cable tie) basic shit , and the major stuff was foreign drs with lack of foundational hygiene standards, lower down nurses seemed to lack ability to do bloods and basic shit without collapsing veins and doing psychological harm IE talking and blood and needles etc , it mostly seemed basic, ae nurse dropped test on floor and contaminated it which led to a dozen other tests on my son, loads of cluster fecks, but at the same time some brilliant people from bottom to top , it just needs a good overhaul to bring more good people in , it's not a simple solution...

The administration is terrible my daughter received a letter yesterday booking her baby in for her 6 monthly jabs which cover four different illnesses. She had her jabs two weeks ago. Now not only is this a waste of time and resources but imagine if this was sent to a let’s say not so bright mother or a youngster who has no family help they would more than likely just top up and give the baby a double dose and god knows what harm that might do to the little one.

Completely agree with that and had a few experiences myself that stood out and possibly shouldn't have happened.

When my eldest was born my then misses ruptured her uterus and had to have an emergency op, they left me ( an 19yr old first time dad) with the baby for several hours without anyone checking in at all. I didn't have a fuxking clue what was going on with her or baby.

On the second pregnancy we went in for baby to be monitored due to reduce movements (4th day in a row); they connected a fetal ecg and told her to press the button every time the baby moved. They kept coming in and the heart rate was whack and even missing in places but they put that down to bad positioning etc. Our community midwife happened to be doing a day on the ward and seen us; she wasn't happy with the monitor and said baby was clearly distressed and scrubbed for an emergency c section (4/5 weeks prem). When they got the baby out they couldn't keep him stable and said he had pulmonary artresus; treated him accordingly but couldn't save him when he had been given over 5 times the dosage on some medication but to no affect. 

Post mortem shown he had ruptured a ventricle in his mum (a heart attack from my understanding); still wonder to this day how different that one could have went with different staff on the day.

That's the other factor, a minority of parents were vile and should've been shot at the door, some were stoic and amazing others were meek and probably didn't fight their child's corner enough or trusted completely the NHS system, I initially trusted completely and that soon turned to hyper vigilance and questioning and bollocking people, I got threatened with having child's care taken away from me twice , but it was diffused by higher ups, it's a stressful situation

Had a couple of subbies in work a while back that do the whiterock in hospitals ( the white pvc wall covering) and he was telling me that they are literally pulling down work they done no more than 12 months ago and replacing it with new, I asked him why and he said its for no other reason than to get money spent.

It's such a difficult situation, but I've lost count of cockups , I've a half dozen stories of mistakes/malpractice within our own life experience of the NHS , so at some point you have to say this isn't working as it should....

My nephew has been threw something similar last week with a full term pregnancy, absolutely devastating for them. 

The list of fcuk ups they made in the 48 hours prior to them losing their baby after an emergency c section was unbelievable.

Condolences to them mate, its the lowest place ive ever been and i hope your nephew and partner take advantage of any help theyre offered because talking really does help. time does help but will never heal. 

Biggest thing for me is with there job it's not a case of having to buy more sand, replace a door or get a new light fixture (like it would be for most peoples fuxk ups at work) it is people's lives that are lost and I would say they should be more accountable but I also know its not done with malice and they're only human.
