They didn't think they came much farther than Exeter but a Villa was found at Ipplepen about 4 miles from me. I've found 4 roman coins now but just odd ones right in the middle of a field with nothing else around. Cheers Arry
paulus 26
Back in the 1970`s when the M69 was being built between Leicester and Coventry, My old man and brother worked on the construction, I use to go to work with my old man on a Saturday. The amount of Roman coins i use to pick up after the scrapers hade done a pass was unreal. No idea what happened to them as there were tins full. A long, long time ago Lol
DIDO.1 22,811
Found this piece of bone in a high section of river bank opposite a Roman settlement. It's been cut with a saw then snapped. It seems to have something pushed into it. Edited August 12, 2023 by DIDO.1
DIDO.1 22,811
There's a cut mark on the other end as well, so it's been cut to this short length rather than in the course of butchering Edited to say it was just a little piece of stone stuck in the end. I considered spending £400 to get it carbon dated until the kids grassed me up to the Mrs. If it had come back as 2000 year old I would of smiled, thought "told you so" to myself, then thrown it into my shed never to be looked at again
