If I had a lot of money (and a less domineering wife) I'd fill the house with fossils and geological specimens. Far better than tatty ornaments.

Get thissen down to Staithes and Runswick Bay. You can collect your own.

I had a holiday in Staithes and collected fossils. I don't know whether you remember but a kiddie was killed there just a few days after we had left. She was beachcombing, same as us, in the same place and was hit by falling rocks from the cliff face. Chance in a million.

I remember having a meal in the pub there and I was served f****n yellow decaying broccoli along with my meal. I asked the waiter  basically wtf? And he thanked me for my input and said he would pass it on to chef. No apology, no price reduction, no free drink. f****n Yorkshire b*****ds.

There's a coast down south nicknamed the jurassic coast...wouldn't mind a holiday there collecting fossils.

I don't remember the incident you mention at Staithes, but I seem to recall one at nearby Runswick Bay. If you go to Staithes on a super low tide you can walk around the headland to Port Mulgrave. There are some very good fossils inlaid in the rocky sea bed. 

Never had a problem with meals in that area and we visited regularly for well over 20 years from the late 80s. The most consistent meals were at the Fox and Hounds at Dalehouse. I never knew Lancastrians were particular about their food. Cow's heels, pig's trotters and tripe aren't really a Yorkshire thing. You'd have to bring them with you

Edited to add; was it the big caravan park on the right hand side, as you head up to Fleetwood from Cleveleys? (And I don’t mean the coast road)

I was forgetting a yorkshireman's palate is very robust. Decaying vegetable matter is the preferred delicacy of lower species of mammals.

There were and still are a few caravan parks in Cleveleys, all referred to as Cleveleys. As I remembered them they were similar to those at Skeggy and Cleethorpes.  A bit like the refugee camp at Calais but without the ambience and hope.

It was probably a honest mistake. The waiter realised that you were a Lancastrian and so ate the parts of animals we Yorkshire folk throw away so gave you the offcuts of brocolli thinking it would be to yiur liking.

Yes but how did he know I was a red rose? I had deliberately put  my knuckles in my pockets so they wouldn't drag,confined my spitting to the floor only and hadn't replied " what the f**k are you looking at?" when we were welcomed into the pub?

Obviously your accent gave you away. In Yorkshire cherries are cherries, not churries, Bury is a town, and berry is a fruit and we don't keep going the the foot of our sturs, 'appen.

I braved blackpool a few weeks ago but only for the zoo. I find the best way to see blackpool is from our beach
