Welsh snare ban

Recommended Posts

Just noticed this tonight

Animal aid is heartened that there is going to be a ban on snares in Wales and hope that England and Scotland will follow.

I guess they will include rabbit snares in that. The welsh gov are such a bunch of utter morons.

Basc are trying to stop it by making snares licenced blah de blah instead of telling them where they can shove there bill

Snares cause alot of suffering on animals left in them i only took a fox out one earlier thing wrapped around his hips and i took countless other lads out them caught up on ditchs and runs and that wire cut right through there necks not a good sight when they been caught up a while in them

There is also going to be a review of shooting woodcock.

Personally I'd ban fox snares (and night vision/thermal shooting) .....but one more attack is another step nearer to loosing everything so I wouldn't actually support a ban. If that makes sense

Snares are like any thing they can be cruel if not used correctly. But not being legally allowed to go out and snare a rabbit in the countryside is so sad. Some thing else about to be gone :(
I got stopped by the police during lockdown and I was carrying some rabbit snares and one of coppers asked the other are they legal and he said yes but not for much longer

Snaring a rabbit is a tradition its part of country life. I bet its hardly got a mention and will quietly be bundled with fox snares

You can get friendly snares these are modified Aldrich traps that snare the leg safely,  I used to snare a lot when fur was worth money but wouldn’t use them again unless I was living off the land ??
