Fox rut

Has anybody else heard vixens going at it nights .Out last ratting and there were two very near me shouting like mad .This is proper rut calling not cub defence .

Earliest I can remember them shouting was mid October here which is still early for most parts the country .

Late October was the earliest for me but have heard a dog fox barking regularly.

Think he is lonely cos I've had all his girls!

I expect SD is heaving with foxes and fallow but who am I to criticise .Eyes still full of black powder I guess .

Not heard any calling but my mate did the other night… I saw two adults together last week though, couldn’t get them as they were skyline.. the one in front was focused on a mission and the one behind looked like it had been run over, it was breakdancing trying to keep up

This was two cubs playing last year, look at the date.. there’s a big set there in the ditch, starts at 200yrd from where I’m stood and last hole is bout 240, it’s like the Hilton… soon as there wiped out something else moves in!

Bloody cold enough last night to set them off ....had a hail shower and it was 1c on the way home. Fingers were freezing off

The fallow here are starting to grunt as well .I expect they are with you SD ?
Lovely cold night last night ,starry and  good to be out .

Saw couple of foxes but not where they are doing any harm .I just can’t stay in ,any tips Dave .
