Get a job at a falconry centre if thats all you want to do or get a common buzzard you will learn alot from one

i would do but i dont leave school for another 2 years!!!!!! :tongue2:

Its upto you mate but I wouldn't advise getting a small BOP like alot of people have said, you have more to play with in a bigger bird like weight control you will find them less fragile aswell, but at your age and situation I would go for a common buzzard and you will be doing very well if you get one to hunt properly.

The other thing to think about is whats going to happen when you leave school are you going to collage ? your not going to get anywhere with a bird if you are only flying 1-2 times a week

just my opinion

Just my opinion but personally I think a HH is to easy to man and train you dont really need to do much to get them hunting. Like I said you will find a buzzard harder but you will learn alot more from it, you can get away with a fair bit with a HH but buzzards can be stubborn and keep you working.

dont look down on someone unless [bANNED TEXT] helping them off the floor :whistling: thanks eniway

ps im 14

full marks for that reply :clapper::clapper::clapper:

millet was trying to help you mate, it can be distressing with some questions asked as it gives falconry a bad name or worse

best advise to you mate is get a good mentor behind you and seek as much advise you can first :victory:

HH's are capable of being S.A.S birds (saturdays and sundays). like i say, far easier to control than a smaller bird. and, if you decide to take it further and are confident enough to cut his weight, get if fit and put the time in, you can have almost as much fun as with a gos'.

in my opinion, a lot of HH's are flown a couple of ounces OVER weight. get them fit and sharp set (my last male flew at 1lb 5 3/4oz and was a rocket!!) and you will catch a wider range of quarry and have some great sport..

I have just got a MHH and i have heard alot about getting the weaight wrong on a Sparrow hawk it will die so i have had not any thing near the expereanse of some of them on here but a Buzzard Harris Hawk or Red tail hawk is a good bird for begginers ans also remeber all the kit you need.

At the end of the day gilly-1993 has asked for advise of what bird is best for him. It dont matter what anybody says he will get whatever bird he feels is best for him. As for weekend birds there's no such thing now the hell do you expect to get anywhere flying just weekends its like having a dog and only letting it out the kennel once a week I haven't got time for ****s like that.
