Cancelled Because it Was Windy?

Was meant to be beating this Saturday but got a call from the gamekeeper saying it was cancelled because it was windy? This is my first season helping out so didn't want to come across as dumb, but is it common to cancel shoots when it is windy? Didn't seem to bad to me.

They blustering do lol when i last went it was the windest ive knowen in a long time and 4 of us finished with 14 pheasant 2 partridge and a duck good day lol or a rough shoot

iT MAY HAVE BEEN UNSAFE OR THE GUNS ON THERE PEGS,A LOT ARE ELDERLY

 

TO CANCEL A SHOOT HERE IT HAS TO BE MINUS 30 BLOWING A FORCE TEN HURRICANE WITH A TIDAL WAVE WARNING AND SIX FOOT DRIFTS BUT THERE WILL STILL BE SOMEONE OUT

birds fly very fast in wind and if guns have paid alot say a let day and miss alot of the birds it can cause a bit of bad feeling.once in wind on our shoot one drive produced 3 birds for 75 shots from experieced guns which caused a few smiles but if the birds are unshootable its best to leave for another day.

...When they get in the wind they're gone like...... the wind!...Great fun shooting on windy days as they fly really well!

I'd get back to them myself and tell them they're in the wrong feckin job If they can predict how windy it'll be five day's in advance, feck me they'll make a fortune

 

 

Even the various sites that predict it are known to be miles off course and if the wind changes direction like it does continually, God knows what the weather will be

Thanks for all your replys, they re-arranged for Thursday when by all accounts it was even worse! Sadly had to work that day.

not often we cancell a days shooting but had too this year on a farmers day because the guns could hardly stand up let alone shoot and the woods got too dangerous for the beaters
