Winchester 42 grainers

Anyone tried the USA made winchester 42 grain subsonic 22 lr ammo . Wouldnt have thought the extra 2 grains over the standard 40 grainers would make a worthwhile difference. ?

Had some boxes of the 42 grain “USA” production subbies and took then back. Issues with them not all being subsonic and hence not grouping - no real surprise there. A shame as I’ve been more than happy with both the 40’s & 42’s for many a year which from memory were produced in Australia? 
The US stuff was in different packaging, loose in a smaller box sort of top n tailed as opposed to all sitting in a little tray.

Tried them once. Won't bother again.

42gn is a useless sales gimmick to appeal to the notion more is better.

I've used Winnies for years and just recently been disappointed with them. Wont be using them again.

 Going to see what i like best over the next couple of weeks Eley, CCI or Norma subs.

I got 500 Norma a few weeks ago just because they were the cheapest in the shop and they are spot on in the little cz, I stopped using Winnie’s because they were to inconsistent and went onto CCI and they were good, I think they were £9 a hundred

I too was fed up with Winchester subs . I now use Norma and am very happy with them in my Tikka .

They are what I got, first time I’ve used them and they are spot on

Been using Norma for the past 4 years 

but found Eley at longer range tighter group 

very disappointed in Winchester

Went out this morning and put a few rounds through the rifle. Eley not bad, Norma a bit spready but CCI were virtually spot on. 

Will give them another trial next week.

Gave the CCI a bashing this morning  while zeroing my scope in and they were perfect.  So CCi for me.

Not used the 42 at all yet, but got 500+ of new (old stock) 40g from a pal a few weeks back, seem fine!

Have they actually stopped making the 40g, I think they have?

Had no issues with the original 42’s but would recommend no bulk purchase of the new style stuff until you try a box.
