I did a beaters day with an auto once but I was the keepers best foxer and he used one exclusively also.

I also used a Winchester pump years ago on a beaters day on one place. Nobody said nuffin because the shoots son used one on account he had a bad neck or something.

To be honest though, all the game shoots I've shot on, not many, the most fun was when using a muzzleloader.

That would piss me off , I do like to get lead in the air  . The birds would start coming , I’d have a shot and by the time I’d reloaded they would be blowing the horn .

In the old days the beating line was stopped to allow re loading. It was probably a much more relaxed pace. Each bird savoured!
