Aye, I remember the feral cats around the dene on Tanners bank, we were down in the works van through the week, it's a different place these days with the apartments, and restaurants, if you walked along there now with some terriers and an air rifle you'd have the armed response on you lol

Dead right.

The cats were easier to catch than the rats during daytime. Not that the dogs were rubbish just that it was extremely difficult to shift the rats from their strongholds and I had never seen a smoker at that time. In my defence regarding the cats I was young and daft and mad keen on any sport with dogs. These days I'm scared to walk a terrier even on a lead on any land within miles of a badger set for fear of the helicopter appearing to be shortly followed by several police cars and being informed that a member of the public has reported me for badger baiting. Again.

Had a few pints there with a mate last year, or year before. He told me that some of his newly arrived neighbours were petitioning the council or whoever to put a stop to the early morning activities on the fish quay as it was waking them up. No doubt they also find the smell of fresh fish offensive apart from when following a Rick Stein recipe.

Strange days indeed.

Circa 1992

I recall a boring Sunday afternoon not long before I acquired my first lurcher, I lived within a short walk of North Shields fish quay, these were the days when the men folk went for a few pints before heading back home for a Sunday dinner followed by a welcomed lazy afternoon before a Sunday Nightshift or a Monday shift beckoned. Anyway I headed unarranged to Wallys place, he lived at the bank top, the main drag was deserted as the red ford Cortina estate pulled to a halt, and a beaming smile enquired " do you know the way to Sunderland?, I don't know who the greasy haired glasses wearing fella was that was driving, but the smiler was none other than the Sunderland Strangler Stephen Grievson

For a minute I thought he was gonna offer you the managers job

weird that though pal ??

What I'd like to know is who the driver was, I got a decent enough look at him, think Grieveson was sitting in the backseat of the car, they looked dodgy as fukc, and like I say the town centre was like a ghost town on a Sunday back then, not like now with Sunday shopping

Like only a good church goer should

I'm going to get a pair

Do you need to go up a size to sport a pair of heavyweight winter socks?

Socks AND Crocs?Bist du deutsher? No C'mon that's a faux pas, like white socks and birkenstocks ? let your feet enjoy the sockless luxury of Crocs alone ? get the Camo-crocs though, they blend in, even with house plants ?
