A true friend of the countryside and everything involved with it

Well played old girl ,  The lads will never forget you.  it was an honour .

Literally toilet humour again .    And why do you think it went like clock work and immaculately ? Cause the armed forces ran the gaff , not some panel of industry jostling for position.

The late Queen played a blinder in death . By passing at Balmoral and with her cortage from Balmoral to Edinburgh she’s rejuvenated the Union and imo killed Sturgeons plans of Independence in its tracks .

A very clever woman who put her duty to the Union at the forefront till the end imo ?

???????????

I said pretty much the same to my missus yesterday, that in her being driven the length of Scotland yesterday, it was a great advert for the ‘No’ to independence campaign.., and may well have been intended. It has certainly ‘involved’ the people in this country in the whole event of her death in a way that would never have happened if she’d died in the South of England.
A second referendum for independence would likely be very close run again, and I agree that the events over the last few days would favour the campaign to remain in the union, and might even be enough to seal the win if the vote was tomorrow, but don’t get carried away and over estimate it. This country is still very divided.
The media coverage, in particular by the BBC, is true to form in that its agenda driven rather than factual and balanced. They didn’t report the ‘fcuk the queen’ shouting and booing of GSTQ at Tynecastle minutes after her death was announced, nor the booing in Edinburgh yesterday at the proclamation of the new king. Now it has to be said that these outbursts are the acts of a small minority, but by the same token, a great many of the people lining the A90 and streets of Edinburgh yesterday weren’t mourning their queen, heads bowed as the cortege passed by, but were simply there for the spectacle and to film it for their Insta page. In my experience, the majority of people in Scotland are largely apathetic to the monarchy and that’s what I witnessed yesterday..,  whilst you probably watched the helicopter shots and listened to the running commentary by a bunch of sycophantic ‘journalists’.

In her living so long, many of the population only ever knew the queen as a little old woman. Its normal that there would be a deal of reverence when she died. It’s, as one blubbing wreck of a Belfast woman on the BBC over the weekend put it, “as if you’re granny died”. Jesus fcuking wept.., for that poor woman’s grandmother.

Anyway, aware I’m probably coming off as a bit of a nationalist and republican, but I’m probably not ardently either.., just trying to bring a bit of balance to the thread. And when the dust all settles, the queen and her popularity will be gone and quickly forgotten, and what’s left is a king who the majority have always thought wasn’t up to the job.
