Ah ok mate - I just took it at face value

Still, I can't see the issue with someone building something to live in on their own land - these regulations and control just smell of power hungry bureaucrats to me.

It has always been the major failing of a centralised planning system mate.

It means you can’t built a place for yourself but they can put up 1000 house concrete box estates without a murmur.

No one's talking about shanty towns or having the countryside broken up and given to inner-city wretches.  .......... it's a conversation about folk that do have a bit of land, maybe just a small

I'm not advocating a total free for all - the story is about someone that's chosen to live their way on a small area of the land that they own.   How can it be right to pick on him now? It's

A true story. My mate had a stable and paddock on a country lane, the only other building was next door, a very nice, old, stone built cottage owned by an eminent surgeon. My mate applied fo

They are lovely people, forced out of their own country by government officials

With a population of 68+ million if even 1% decided  to bang a container in a field or sling up a mud hut our remaining countryside would be drastically different overnight, then would we still support this idea?

Question is, what makes these folk so special that planning laws should be bent to suit them?

Around here there are little shanty towns of Crusty's up green lanes. Caravans in lay-bys with fenced off areas with some chickens etc in the lanes, Laybys on the main roads fenced off caravans, yurts. Caravan in the woods, Tents hidden away. It's No Soaper central and no f**k does anything.

A mate has a small Orchard that used to be a small caravan park has a work shop keeps couple of pig and poultry applied to put up a Bungalow and got turned down. Few days later was contacted by several different builder trying to buy it off him saying they can get planning. It's who you know around here and back handers and funny hand shakes.

Planning is corrupted here.

Cheers Arry

It's the same everywhere mate, not just planning, you pay the right folks and they will sign off most things, gas, water, electric, streetworks etc,Welsh water are some of the biggest f***ing crooks around my way?

I thought there was some law were if you live there for so many years you got back dated planing,

Was a lad I knew built a stable he never even had a horse and a light was on even night for five years or so, he told planing he's living there all that time.

Then got planing to change it to a bungalow.

Mind planning is shady as f**k around here.

Cheers Arry

Same as if your living on peace of land for ten years you have a right to claim it or at least that's how it used to be ,

My mate built a place and made front look like stables ,he got away with it for years Until some jealous b grassed him up .

Adverse possession,or squatters rights still legit lol

Tbh I think there shouldn't be so many regulations,if you own the land you should be able to build yourself a home, maybe some broad regulations, like size or materials but that's it,who are the gov to tell us what to do with our own land.

Fenced off a lovely piece across the road from my house, used it as an allotment, checked with the land registry and it was unregistered, cost me few hundred in solicitors fees and land registry fees now it's all mine, got the deeds the lot

How long did you have it fenced off for bb before you applied for possession, did you adverse it or pay for it?
