Both methods work , more than one way to skin a cat as they say.

I prefer the sporting way of stalking them with the shotgun, would get bored sitting for hours with only getting a couple of shots.

Air gun shooting is just target shooting but shotgun gets more varied , running flat out on the ground , running up trees and along branches plus the chance of right and lefts ?

Plus the chance to add other flying quarry to the bag ?

First couple of sessions on a feeder can be hectic mate .I loose interest when it’s just one or two but early days spot on with chance of a Jay or two .

So. I’ve decided to start a new thread for the 22/23 season up at the shoot now as you know I’ve been involved with my shoot for a long time ( 15 years or so ) my intention when I joined was to s

I've been invited to a rough shoot tomorrow with an ex world champ clay shot!

I'm a little nervous but I've been told it is a ROUGH shoot and I may shoot only two cartridges and need the gun as a walking stick!

Got a stinking head cold too.

Are you not taking a front stuffer?

My Boxing Day shoot today. Plan was to try for a pheasant , but it was extremely hard work. The pheasants on this farm are the most wild and wily in the country.

I saw a few but impossible to get within rifle range yet alone shotgun range ?

I eventually cornered one between a fence and a fallen tree so it had no option but to fly , I dropped it as it flew over the top of the wood ?

Managed 5 squirrels but only picked 3 as 2 fell over a cliff...

Ended the session trying to shoot some woodies as they were coming in to a small copse , fast and jinking made for good sport ...I really struggled  thinking there was no lead in the cartridges

Well, I was all set for my Boxing Day evening out at my mates place when another mate rang me asking if he could come out with me, so change of plan as I can’t take him to my mates as he doesn’t like him, so off to the sheep farm we went, the wind direction was less than ideal but we would give it a go anyway. Setting up with our backs to a hedge for a bit of shelter we set the caller going, it wasn’t long before I spotted a fox charging down next doors field, a few minutes later it appeared in the bottom of our field, it winded us straight away and decided to come up the centre of the field stopping from time to time never give a chance of a shot with no backstop, we gave it another half hour but with him moaning about being cold and sparking a fag up every 10 minutes ( as if it wasn’t hard enough with the wind ) I decided to call it a night and go back on my own later in the week ☹️

Why do you bother with these muppets , rather go solo ffs

I’m just to nice aren’t I ?

He did me a good turn just before Christmas that helped me out and asked if he could come out with me, so I felt I couldn’t say no. anyway, debt paid now so back out on my own, to be fair to him, he didn’t spook the fox we seen, that winded us became of where it entered the field
