made a start

A bit early but have made a start, 

 Had a nice morning out with a mate and our dogs and one of my new ferrets this years young..

he worked well alongside the older ferrets and is showing great promise,   well happy with him! 

  also some good signs of the rabbit population  picking up so all is good atm

we ended the morning with 6 good rabbits

Thinking of having a go in the woods love doing woods. We tend to do burrows that are in open ground and woods till the hedges die back which could be early this year due to the dry weather.

I'm keen to get two young kits working.

Yea i know what you mean with this heat and is always bit of a gamble with young still about.. we passed over a lot with   cover and were  quite lucky to find few places that were not to bad

Was really just to get the young ferret started and get some rabbits for him and the dogs

had my fix now and quite happy  to wait till this heat subsides a bit

That fawn dog absolute carbon copy of a bitch I bred years ago .Called her Hazel .ilI try find out few pics .

I was out a fortnight ago, I know its  early  but I was short of ferret  food,anyway  I ferreted a big Warren on a steep bank in a sheep  field  using two 50yd quicksets and finished up with  15 rabbits, a couple  of days later I was asked to  use the quicksets  on a field of  rape while  it was being  harvested and got another 26, freezer is full now ,happy days

yea we did wonder if they would be ontop still in the cover with it being so warm but dogs marked quite a lot of warrens

Thanks, it wasn't really  my intention to get that many rabbits,so I've invested in  one  of those food bag sealer things and half filled  the wife's freezer  with jointed rabbits in various  marinades
