Egh I know people will pay $2500 for a red papered red nose pit that don't do anything but sit on the end of a chain. Idiotic if you ask me but each to their own

Some people just want to own the best, what they do with it is down to them mate.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting the best of things imho mate, I like good kit for anything I do and that extended to not wanting an absolute article at the end of a slip (and believe me, I have had

By far and large yes. But equally that type know f**k all about breeding really, and their interest in blood is superficial, beginning and ending with a bit of paper with some red on it. The lads that

Same principal then mate, breeding for specific desirable genetic traits.

Its all basically trying to stack odds in your favour, if you are going to invest time, energy, miles and money in a dog (or a cow) for a job then you may as well give yourself the best chances.

jmho

Well yes I get the basics of breeding and all that lol

Boy I see where this is going ......

Anyway idk don't really get alot if it. Rather have a mutt most of the time then a pure bred.

Most people in this forum own mutts mate, but some of them are mutts with years of careful breeding, testing and genetic inheritance behind them.

Some people will keep different dogs for different jobs...terriers for ground vermin, runners for edibles/vermin,bushers for flushing game...over here there's a saying...'a good all-rounder/lurcher,is every calibre of bullet you will ever need' should take fur, feather and Salmos ? basically do abit of everything...maybe if guns were as easily available like in the states it would be a different story..your fellow countrymen fall over themselves for pedigrees of our working dogs, they happy to pay whatever for another man's life's work? because we still have the best...even with all the bollocks and the hunting act..

The other saying we have here is...guns are for failed dogmen??

It’s the difference between an AR15 and a catapult mate.

Both can do the same job, but the AR will do what the catapult can’t and do it so much better and be more lethal.

I've successfully shot over and beat with border collies and a GSD. I herded sheep with a spaniel and cattle with the GSD. To some extent you can do anything with the right dog, but a good pedigree or blood line line will always stack the odds in your favour. Nothing guaranteed, nothing is in nature, but the genetic traits will swing the odds.

I suppose really the certain strains of lurcher here would be comparable to the stag or coyote hounds over in the USA ?
just trying to think of something that wolf dog could visualise in his head to get a understanding if you see what I mean ??

Most coyote and fox runners down here are running walkers  as far as I know

What makes a walker hound out of interest?

Dont think you cross anything to get a walker. A walker is a walker like a blue tick is a blue tick as far as I'm aware ? take two walkers and breed em

How amazing would it be if a load of Uk lurcher lads batted around the USA in a legacy and forester ???

Some melt up a baiting station eying in a whitetail in the sights of a his crossbow and two huge bull crosses come flying over the hill and clamp it …”that’s my dog that chore ! “

Netflix surely awaits such a treasure
