Last nights foxing

Recommended Posts

No work today so last night decided on a late one .Varying the times is as much towards a decent night as is getting the wind right and moon phase .Last night was dark here ,bit humid but dark ,just how I like it .The thermal wasn’t very crisp in the humid air but enough to let me see what’s about .First fox was mooching along the far hedge so a slow ,stealthy approach was in order on the stubble to get within a proper range .Not averse to pushing the range but if I don’t need to…..

Got to within 120m odd and lined him up off the quad sticks .Low whistle and he stood stood .A chest shot .

A leggy dog fox for number one .

Hadn’t moved from the spot where he lay when another came trotting up the lane to my left and I let him come to about 170 before again a low whistle and a kill off sticks with the .223 .

Made a bit of a mess of the floor this one .

Bit of a wait before the next one which took the time we’ll into the early hours ,about 2.30 I reckon .This one came straight to me ,wind blowing at him and I killed him at about 40m.

A badger walked past as I got to this fox which I watched for ages in the thermal .Decent night .

Cracking night out, the low whistle is my preferred way to stop them, there’s nowt worse than been out with someone who gives the loudest O’i you have ever heard and then says when it runs off at a million miles an hour “ something spooked it” yes it was YOU, you crank, ?

A good night out mate . I’ve been busy myself, and because I don’t have the luxury of shooting off the front of an ATV anymore I’ve had  to either shoot of the back or bonnet of my truck or sticks or anything else I can lean on .
I made some quad sticks with a fifth leg which are rock solid to shoot off , but when a fox is moving they are a nightmare. I’ve  even thought about a tripod with hog saddle and there is no way I’m paying the money for a reckon of bog . I’ve noticed your sticks , what make are they ? They look like you could track them a bit better than mine with the wide rest at the front .
