Sad yes and another nail in the coffin of fieldsports....but the shooting world did need its wings clipping. Alot of shooters aren't sportsmen...they are shooters, nothing more. The shooting of pheasa

There is division within the countryside but the biggest problem is the division between the town and the countryside. Every year there are more townies and more voices that don't understand or accept

I’d say that’s a brilliant post and very true.

Telling people the truth is hard, when you say “if we don’t all start getting our act together we are dead, period !” Is a message many people don’t want to hear for one reason or another.

See, most stuff is run by committee be that a local club or a national field sports organisation and committeemen are the poison in the well of decisive action…..there’s always someone playing to the beat of their own drum or not willing to sacrifice their own good thing for the greater good.

And let me guess too many folks under them too polite to call them out on their bullshit and just kinda hope they will have a change of heart or the next guy in charge will be different?

The shooting of pheasants in huge numbers by people who wouldn't know a dog or a ferret if one bit the end of their nose and the wholesale shooting of foxes with military hardware has put me off shoots. And that's coming from someone who has done plenty shooting and keepering

"Military hardware". My mate has a £5000 thermal imager on his rifle. He has a stink pit which lures foxes for several miles. He used to shoot thirty per season on average. Now he shoots well over a hundred. There's a distinction between sport/ vermin control and mass slaughter. Technology sways the odds too much much.

Same thing I'm my book for the most part. Honestly from doing outreach work it's hard to do one without the other it seems. Get the woods in the right people

Other wise anyone with a better story can get in them

IMO there just isn't the space for the numbers we'd need and the world is fundamentally a different place, and only getting worse.

I just think what we do, in the UK at least, is unpalatable in this modern world. We'd have to radically change the culture of our sports away from 'sport' and almost exclusively to a deeper more holistic culture of 'hunter gatherer' to stand a chance. And I honestly believe that is all but impossible.

I think I've just kind of accepted that I'm part of a 'species' that is scheduled for extinction. Sucks, but whatever... If the days are numbered all the more reason to get into it!

IMO one of the biggest problems we have and is one of the places we can make the most gains is simply putting a face to the 'evil'. Many of the people who either actively or passively oppose us have never met a single person who does a bit. This separation and impersonalisation makes it very easy to develop an image of us being essentially deranged and not human. Simply engaging with social groups that fit this type is a positive action imo. So long as you don't kick off by sharing pictures of chinless terriers.
