Hi to all my old friends on the THL rifle section

Apologies for my absence, I was busy and got out of the THL “ habit”. I’ve missed looking in and seeing what’s been going on with all your shooting escapades. 
            I’ve had a lot going on , last shooting season I retired from Gamekeeping, I’d been doing the same shoot for 15 years and my wife wanted her husband back , instead of just this guy who turned up to be fed , have his washing done and then out all day and night . Also we planned to move to Cornwall, we had buyers for our house and an offer accepted on a nice little cottage near St Columb . Then my wife had a bombshell , her sister who has two young sons was diagnosed with Cancer . The move was off . 
        My last shoot day was quite an emotional one for me , as I blew the horn on the last drive , I thought “ that’s it then , what now”? The guns had a very generous “whip around” and I was presented with a nice painting and some engraved whiskey tumblers . The beaters also had a whip around and I was blown away by all the well wishes . 
         The shoot now has a new keeper , who I knew before and I recommended him to the shoot owner , he is a great young hard working guy , who I am sure will do very well . 
         So my wife and I are now proud owners of a caravan and instead of moving to Cornwall I now just visit . We have just returned from 17 days on the Lizard at Kennack sands . 
           So I now have a full diary of dates to go loading . And I’ve still got the chicken farm and now the pig farm and a rubbish tip and a couple of other fields and small holdings that are keeping me very busy “ foxing “ . I wonder how much shooting would have been available in Cornwall? I took my thermal on holiday and there was barely a rabbit where I was and no deer or foxes . I think I’m getting the best of both worlds, and am now thinking that the grass might not be that much greener in Cornwall. 
        I hope that you are all well and managing to get out and about , I will now spend a bit of time reading what I’ve been missing…….. might take a while . All the best

Cheers pal, The wife’s sister has had a tumour removed and some glands and so far so good . But something like that makes you think about life and your priorities. 
              I hope that the pyjama wearing sniper is still bursting with health and exuberance?

Great to see you back on, you have came back at a turbulent time there’s been a lot of nonsense over the past couple of days ( I’ve been keeping out of it ) hopefully it’s settled down now, anyway, hope you are keeping well and enjoying a steadier pace of life

Cheers Stav , How’s things ? Are you guys putting any birds out this year ? It’s a rich man’s game this season . I think I picked a good time to slide out of the back door . The shoots near me have struggled with their cover crops because of the dry weather , no chicks , the chicks they did get were not very good , insane gas prices , fuel prices , feed and wheat prices , in short the costs have gone through the roof . 
             I don’t know about the nonsense that’s been going on , this section of THL was always friendly and light hearted , long may it continue.
