Anyone mess with Hay ?

Recommended Posts

Good friend of mine has like 86 acres of hay fields around his house. He personally don't cut it. Right now he lets some guys cut and bale as much as they want mainly to keep it cut down. Well I mentioned that not making him any money since me and my folks are buying round bales for up to $50-60 this year. Well he says he'd be happy for someone to give him $1000 a year and they could cut and bale as much as they want . Personally think thats pretty low. He's a really great guy and good friend so I wanna see him do good.So what would y'all say ? Btw this hay is the first cut in 5 years apparently but looks and smells like some good stuff

If you gave him $20 a bail he would still be making over $4 thousand and you’d pay for yours by selling the surplus.

86 acres is a lot of round bails.

I don’t know much about this stuff mate but I’m guessing about 3 to 4 bails an acre ?

Does that sound right ?
