Female and Cat!!

I went out with my female Harris this morning. I never fed or flew them yesterday, they gorged the day before on a Rabbit. This morning she was 2lb 2oz and keen as mustard. I had her on the Scales while getting ready myself, anyway she decided to try to fly out the closed Glazed Door. She realised just in time it was shut and only hit it at less than half force and slid down it. I panicked during all this and tried to stop her, while this was going on the Dogs had been asleep. The oldest one woke up and lifted her Head, my female nailed her on the Ear and side of Head. I managed to pull one foot away and open up the back claw on the other foot. I settled everything down, had a cup of Tea and went out. She actually grabbed a 85lb american Bulldog Bitch! It is only a small walk and then a few hundred acres of Fields, Brambles and Woodland etc near me. I walked down the Lane bordering the Fields and then gave the female a stroke and cleard some Feathers from her Beak and let her go. She started to go up into a low Tree but turned mid air, I looked towards where she was flying and there was a big white and tabby Cat running down the Field. She coursed it and missed, going up into a Tree, while figuring out where it went. I ran down the Field and when I got to her the basta*d Cat came out of hiding, turned and ran back up the Field, my Harris gave chase again and this time nailed it !! There were Feathers and Fur flying, both were rolling around, while I was clambering back up the Field, breathing out of my arse!! I was moving slow by the time I got to them and the Cat got away......I mean luckily the Cat got away.......I checked 'Kimba' over and apart from a couple of grazes on one of her Feet, no problems. I gave her a real good check when we got home and I couldn't find anything, so a lucky, but unlucky morning in the end. I will be sore as F&ck tomorrow and was glad to get Home in the end. I may fly her at 3 Stone tomorrow!!......lmao.

get some stuff on them grazed feet, keep a close eye on your bird mate, cats are a carrier of all sorts

i got a terrier that had a feral cat once and i thought i did a good job of checking him over, next day his throat/neck was like the size of a football, i missed three scratch marks on the underside, a course of pills and he was back to normal

Cheers for the advice Bullet, but I have everything I need here with me........if I need it. I gave her a Virkon Foot Bath when we got Home and THOROUGHLY checked her over, Better than a Vet will too!! If I notice anything I will give her a Jab and put her on a course of Amoxicillin, which works ok with Birds.

I checked this morning and nothing obvious, the scratches didn't swell. She kept herself fairly safe and had the Head and Neck, I would have to say I was impressed. I understand the concern though fellas, thanks.

you should have taken her to a vet bullet, with cats they have the most bacteria in there teeth and claws than any animal, a course of antibiotics would have put your mind at rest, not want to upset you but it will be in a few days time that if its going to happen if it will, so if after a week she is still alive i would count your lucky stars.

chris.

think you'd better get your reading glasses out mate as its not me

im giving some advise here :tongue2:
