Il tell you something for nothing

listen to the Ariana grande news footage , that whoop whoop in the sky is the reason we don’t have active shooter attacks in the uk . That chinook will have     Been lifted in secs with A gang of lads in crye trousers inside ready to cause f***ing chaos at the drop of a hat

they are our finest and deserve every inch of respect Lauded upon them .

in reality , not many people know the sacrifices these ordinary geezers make , to be at the absolute pinnacle of their profession.

Too many mates ex forces and still serving, nothing but respect from me... never served a day in my life but been very close to a few of them and seen the mental and physical scans from war first hand

What do people think the job of the special forces is ? Hearts and minds ? Build schools  ? Give out food parcels ? No it’s to covertly close and kill the enemy, particularly those at the top of vario

I would like to see the bbc do a documentary on how Tony Blair ended up being worth £ 50 million.                        The Real war criminals are Bush , Blair and the people how controlled them .

in this day and age without a doubt

do you think  educated sensible men join the infantry to be cannon fodder risk there life

to make the c**ts in power richer and to give them more power

but that’s just my opinion we’re all entitled to one

If you compared the average 24 year old lad from your estate, with an infantry section commander , I think you’d be in for a shock .

the fact you think like that , shows you have very little interaction with the army of today or recent past . 15 years ago , the blowing up of doors and room clearances was the domain of specialist units , nowadays that’s the average task for todays junior infanteer. Add in the command needed , leadership , the will to succeed , communication in radios , written and verbal format , the values imposed , the entire plethora of technicial and physical ability to be a successful junior commander.

to dismiss them as “thick” is quite frankly , shocking

Calling soldiers brain dead do you not see that as a insult. Just because me you and many others didn’t have the bottle or drive to join don’t make them brain dead. People join the forces for many reasons and I’m sure many probably didn’t agree with going to Iraq or Afghan.

not really everyone know about cannon fodder don’t they ?

not joining the infantry has nothing to do with bottle

if  you don’t agree with something but still go what would you call that

Yet you’ve just labelled the majority of them “thick” as by and large the majority of the SAS are from the parachute regiment

You’ve no idea of mission command , the three block war , or the orders process so it’s pointless arguing with you .

the best days of my life were as a section commander in airborne forces , the freedom to impose your will on the lads as a mentor , a coach and as a friend was a burden I felt I carried with reverence .

last month I had two messages from two young lads who were part of my section , one is now an officer , the other is now something else . In both cases I actively encouraged them to better themselves and to try something different . I felt a sense of real achievement in the words they said .

that’s what a section commander should be like , the way I was taught to be , the way I was fostered , coached , mentored and ultimately trusted to take over from my peers .

you can’t buy that sense of belonging or familial ties in any other occupation on this earth imho

Lesser these days but for many years it was viewed as the natural progression for para regt jncos .

Id estimate three quarters of Hereford will have had some sort of 16 air assault brigade background .
